Or is it something else? Fair isle usually has lots of colours doesn't it. This one here.

No, fair isle jumpers have a patterned yoke. All over pattern like that is called intarsia

Ujjayi · 13/10/2013 19:30

It is fair isle. Also known as jacquard :)

soontobeslendergirl · 13/10/2013 19:30

I wouldn't say it is typical fair isle - see images :

www.google.co.uk/search?q=fair+isle&rlz=1C1CHNY_en-GBGB447GB447&espv=210&es_sm=93&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=VuZaUqWSEIea1AXsp4HICw&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=677&dpr=1

but it could be a version though I would say it looks more like a Swedish or Norwegian knit

Orangeanddemons · 13/10/2013 19:33

It's fair isle or the proper term is Jacquard. Fair Isle should have more colours in it. I used to be a knitwear designer. Intarsia is one off shapes

ElizabethBathory · 13/10/2013 19:34

Great thanks all :) I'm selling it on eBay, just wanted to know what it to call it - I shall use all the suggested terms, to be safe!

SpookyRestingFace · 13/10/2013 19:55

I would call it Fairisle for Ebay purposes. Of all the terms mentioned here, that's the popular one that most people search for Smile

You'll get more hits (and bids) with fairisle than with intarsia (which is something else, like this ) or jacquard.

DontMentionThePrunes · 13/10/2013 19:58

You can call it 'stranded knitting' and I agree that it looks more Scandinavian than Fair Isle, which is a particular set of motifs, usually more colours, and Shetland wool.

ElizabethBathory · 13/10/2013 20:08

Is fair isle one or two words when it's the pattern? I'll put fair isle in the title and as many other terms as possible inc Scandi :)

OP posts:
zgaze · 13/10/2013 20:08

I'd include the words holiday, Christmas and Nordic in there somewhere too

Aquelven · 13/10/2013 20:20

It isn't Fair Isle, not just because of the large patten repeat & use of only two colours, but mainly because it is obviously machine made not hand knitted which all Fair Isle is, done in the round on double pointed needles called wires.

ElizabethBathory · 13/10/2013 20:29

Ah I have Christmas but not Nordic or holiday, will put those in zgaze, thanks!

I'll only get a few quid for it probably as it's unbranded.

Put the words 'bloggers favourite' and you will get more hits.

I listed an h&m bog standard but pretty scarf and it didn't sell. I reworded the title and put bloggers favourite and I got lots of watchers and bidders and sold it for more than I paid.

ElizabethBathory · 13/10/2013 20:56

No way Sunday?! People are stupid!

Great tip though :)

Does anyone know where that exact jumper in the pintrest link is from? I really like it

MollyRoses · 13/10/2013 22:29

Oh, just worked out how pintrest works... It's here www.cichic.com/blue-striped-geometric-round-neck-wool-blend-sweater.html?medium=HardPin&source=Pinterest&campaign=type56&ref=hardpin_type56 for anyone else that's interested but an US site

ElizabethBathory · 14/10/2013 08:12

Molly that is the exact jumper I am selling. I think it's a Chinese site.

MollyRoses · 14/10/2013 09:03

Ooh - are you selling it on ebay UK?

ElizabethBathory · 14/10/2013 09:17

Yes - I shouldn't think I'm allowed to link to it here but you should be able to find it by searching. Bidding starts at 99p Grin

Sunday, I've asked for that link to be removed. Feel odd about having my RL eBay account on MN. I would have PMed it.
