Black boots or tan? Or brown?

I have my eye on the Clarks Orinoco Club chelsea boot. I've seen them in the shop and tried on my size, but can't decide on the colour. I think the tan (called brown snuff, but definitely tan not brown) might be more versatile. However, the tan colour is a bit close to that of a rigger boot that builders wear.

To confuse the issue I also like these ASOS Author ones, which come in black or oxblood (?dark brown). They look a bit shorter and neater. This may be good as I am 5'2", but hard to tell from the website only.

Can anyone assist me in making up my mind?

I love Chelsea boots and got the Clarks Orinoco Club in that colour last year. They are really comfy but despite my best efforts at cleaning them they don't retain that nice look when you first get them (mine look quite faded now)! They aren't particularly waterproof either if that's an issue for you?

Would recommend keeping your eye on Brantano deals as they have these boots and I paid £29 for them when they had offers on... bargain!

Much prefer the ASOS ones. The Clarks won't do you any favours at 5'2" IMO as they are heavy looking.

Yes, I think you're probably right Ujjayi. The tan Clark's ones do have the potential to make me look like I'm off for a day on site. Which put me off the DMs that were mentioned a couple of boot threads back, as my site boots actually are DMs.
