If you spend a lot of time and/or money on your appearance

can you explain why or who you do it for?

I like to look nice(ish) it makes me feel better and I'd like to say, like lots of others, I do it for myself. But that's not true really is it? It makes me feel better because I think I look better to other people, it really doesn't matter to me what I look like, I can't see myself, the only difference it makes to me is the way other people see me, isn't it?

If it was truly for me, I'd have clean comfortable clothes and clean hair, because it itches otherwise, but the blowdry/cut/colour would be completely unnecessary.

If you take care of the way you look, for yourself, rather than for others, can you explain it to me please?

I work from home and spend all day in sloppy clothes, I only bother about my appearance if I'm going out.
I'm uber health conscious with what I eat, and with exercise, I think in part thats to do with having a sense of being in control and sticking to a regime

I don't tend to wear make up but I prefer my hair when it is straightened and has a nice cut/noroots us i like my eyebrows threaded. I couldn't imagine leaving the house in a t shirt/joggys/trainers the thought makes me feel icky. I dress for myself but appreciate the compliments I get on looking good although I'm not into high fashion nor do I spend a lot but I make an effort definitely.

I make an effort for me. Having only one child it meant that I could continue with lots of my pre-child routines. Not a massive fan of the fakery that is around at the moment. At my age I would look like a drag queen! I have my hair cut and coloured and buy clothes which suit me and my style. Have always worn make up since adolescence. DIY facials/manicures are great fun too. Like the previous poster said, if I'm OK about myself then I concentrate on doing a good job of work.

I spend time on my hair and make up but not a lot of money.

I like to look well presented at all times. It truly makes me feel better. I agree with the poster who stated that looking good shows others that you care about yourself.

On having dd and being in the house all day, I wore make up and painted my nails. The fact that dh would not see me until he arrived home from work did not matter.
