What shoes with leggings/ skinny jeans?

I'm going for a night out with some friends I haven't seen for ages. I doubt it will be smart but I don't want to look like I'm going to work. This is hard because I mostly only have my office clothes and jeans.

I was going to wear some skinny dark indigo jeggings and a darkish tunic top - what shoes? Would you go for ballet flats, would boots be weird for an indoor, evening do? Tights with the shoes? I'm short and not very slim, but I would be 100x more comfortable in flats. I have some flattish black knee boots but they are not very evening-ish. I'm only just giving up my bootcut jeans and not very confident about the silhouette in skinnies.

Ankle boots or ballet flats would look fine I think.

Yep mortified that sort of thing.

I went to a party recently in leggings and pumps (nice top and accessories). A friend needed to go to the shop down the road. She was wearing high ankle boots but didn't want to walk in them so she swapped her high ankle boots for my pumps for the purpose.

I felt a million dollars in them, had a dance and everything. Sadly she insisted on swapping back when she returned :(

I will keep an eye out in town and try a few things on. My wardrobe is so out of date I buy one new thing and then have nothing to go with it.
