...after having just read an old thread

Scary video here for anyone who hasn't seen it before.

The dc are having a nap, dh is at work...please would someone either talk me out if it or tell me to get on with it before I bottle out!

Do it! Just make sure you comb thoroughly and hold all together and then snip!

ellesabe · 08/10/2013 14:44

Ok.

I have just pulled my hair into the 'front ponytail' but it looks like it's all different lengths and I don't know where to snip!

Some of my hair only just fits into the hairtie iyswim. Does this mean my hair's too short for it?

I've put a photo on my profile...

Erm...her hair looks rubbish and 80s by the end! Doesn't it? I think it's cos she went quite short with the layers.

ellesabe · 08/10/2013 14:48

Oh. I thought it looked quite nice Blush

Most people in the comments on the video disagree with me, don't worry!

ellesabe · 08/10/2013 15:29

Sod it. I'm just going to hold my breath and do it quick before the dc wake up...

Take your time in positioning the hair bobble. Nearer to the front means shorter layers at the front and longer at the back.

You can do an inverted bob by tying hair in a ponytail at the nape of your neck and cutting just under hair bobble, it will then be longer at the front than the back.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 08/10/2013 15:35

Do it, I recommend it. What you shouldn't do on any account however, is get your mum to chop about 8 inches off the back so your hair goes from bra strap length to earring length Hmm. I always thought my hair grew quickly, I now realise it takes a fucking age [woolly hat emoticon].

Wooooo! I did it!!! Grin

That was very exhilarating!

Pic on profile for anyone who cares...

This is my favourite video because it is clear, simple and the soundtrack is fab!

SundaySimmons · 08/10/2013 15:45

So done, looks great.

I love the colour of your hair, too.

SundaySimmons · 08/10/2013 15:46

Grr so done, means well done.

FunnyRunner · 08/10/2013 15:52

Impressive!

ElizabethBathory · 08/10/2013 15:56

Good work! It doesn't look 80s - it's the straightness and featheriness of her hair in the video that looks a bit 80s to me. Yours is lovely and swishy :)

ellesabe · 08/10/2013 15:59

Now just to see if dh even notices Hmm

It looks really good Smile

I cut my hair this way! I haven't been to the hairdressers in about three years and regularly trim my hair myself. My hair has never been so healthy and trimmed so regularly.

I find this video is quite a good one and it shows you how to trim the longer layers at the back, which I found really useful:

ellesabe · 08/10/2013 16:03

Thanks everyone!

I had a massive wobble last week and was seriously considering getting it all lopped off into a pixie style but maybe I'll keep it longer for a little while now that I've discovered a cheap way to keep it looking nice!

Looks lovely.

Fairylea · 08/10/2013 16:52

I did this just the other day. . I'm impressed with it, I just wish I'd left my front layers a bit longer or pulled them out of the way first as they've gone annoyingly short! Oh well... I know next time!

ShoeWhore · 08/10/2013 18:27

Wow it looks amazing OP!

ellesabe · 08/10/2013 19:00

Dh didn't notice...the 2yo was required to point it out to him Grin
