What are you wearing with leggings or thick tights?

I need to purchase around 4 tunic length tops/short dresses to wear with leggings mostly. I know a lot of people on here hate leggings but I just find them comfy and easy for my casual day to day.

I'm 30 and very slim but quite short so leggings and tunics seem to be the most flattering 'uniform' for me. I want to avoid anything remotely frumpy!

However, I am really, really struggling to find anything. I don't want to pay the earth as I need to buy several options. However, I don't want anything too cheap/poor quality. Maybe around the £30-45 range?

Please link me to what you're wearing!

Hi how about something from here www.ceciliaplum.co.uk/index.php?option=com_datafeeds&Itemid=42&q=leggings I have found Laura Ashley really good quality and wash well with no bagginess around the knees ;-) hope this helps. By the way you are absolutley rigt choosing sometihng you feel comfortable wearing, leggings look great especially with high boots in the winter and the look can be styled up with a colourful scarf.

I wear that kind of thing all the time (with tights rather than leggings though). Agree it's so much comfier than jeans or trousers! Links below - some are cheap but still good quality:

Asos knitted dress

Asos tshirt dress (get a size bigger than your usual)

Asos skater dress - a friend was wearing this the other day and looked great.

Crew fair isle - over budget but there might be codes around (I had a 20% off one) and so cosy. Size down.

Topshop tshirt dress - I have this in lots of different colours and wore them a lot over the summer. Am now wearing them for autumn with tights, boots and snood/scarf.

I've been wearing these lately- this in grey and navy, and this

They're SO comfy.

ElizabethBathory · 08/10/2013 12:59

Love those Isaac, they're v pretty :)

neveragainsept · 08/10/2013 13:19

Oh, this is exactly what I needed, thanks ladies! Please keep the links coming!

Elizabeth - what colour did your friend have the asos skater in? I've been stalking the asos knitted dress but I need size 6 or 8 and all sold out :(

Isaac - I already have 2 of the Joules Alexi from last season but both are completely worn out. Didn't feel like they washed all that well. One of them faded massively even on a 30 wash with colour care powder. Have been considering the grey one though so may purchase. Thanks for the reminder.

I wear denim shorts with leggings and boots, or plaid tailored shorts with leggings, or a woollen dress/long jumper with a belt and cable knit leggings.
I get decent quality clothes from charity shops in upmarket areas. Could you do that? Most of my clothes are >£5 but decent makes such as Mango or Hobbs.

PoshPaula · 08/10/2013 13:22

I love leggings (despite the comments on here) and also love wearing tights. I have the tunic that Isaac recommends only I have the blue/mustard striped - and yes, it's so comfy and it looks good (I think).
I wear lots of White Company empire line tunic dresses, and Joules flowery tunics, and I have the Bree dress from Wrap which is gorgeous. There are usually offers on Joules stuff.

ElizabethBathory · 08/10/2013 13:24

She has the black asos skater never. One thing to note is it's very full in the skirt. She has huge boobs despite being a size 10 Envy so balances it well, but I think on me (not much boobage, no hips, size 8) it might look odd.

I forgot, I also have the Oasis long-sleeved fleur denim dress, but all their other denim dresses look lovely too.

PoshPaula · 08/10/2013 13:24

Apologies - the tunic I have is not exactly the same as the one Isaac recommends but it's very similar and the same make.

ElizabethBathory · 08/10/2013 13:26

BTW the Asos knitted dress is currently available in a 6 in the grey and an 8 in the purple. Get the purple one NOW!! Or the grey 6 and you can dye it if you don't like the colour - I dyed one navy and it's perfect.

neveragainsept · 08/10/2013 13:28

Ahh, I did wonder about the fullness of the skirt - I don't think that would work for my shape either (no hips, size 6-8). Also, I'm wondering if this style might make me look younger than I already do. When you're petite you have to be careful about that! Doesn't help that I've also got a baby face! Thanks for the warning.

I do want a denim dress - I've just yet to find one that I like. I tried a couple at Oasis last season but they weren't quite right. I'll take another look now. Thanks :)

Erm, nothing wrong with looking younger than you are Grin

neveragainsept · 08/10/2013 14:02

^ It gets a bit ridiculous when you won't buy alcohol at the supermarket because of the embarrassment of being asked for i.d !

Did you buy the Asos knitted dress? Apologies for getting overexcited and ordering you to buy it Grin Was just surprised to see it back in stock!

neveragainsept · 08/10/2013 21:55

I tried to order it! The size 6 was OOS but the 8 appeared to be in stock so added to bag. Once I did that it said OOS :( I'll keep stalking it! The purple would be perfect.

What footwear are you wearing with the Oasis denim dress you mentioned and the asos knitted dress?

Anyone else have any dress/tunic suggestions?

Black pointy flats or black ballet flats (both suede), unless it's cold or rainy then black biker boots or low heeled black ankle boots. Am not v adventurous with footwear really. How annoying about the dresses!

neveragainsept · 08/10/2013 23:01

I wear ballet flats or biker boots too :)
