Narrow size 9 (42) feet seeking up to 2 and 1/2 inch wear with everything court shoes

Just the above really. I'm a narrow foot. I've seen a pair that cost £200 but just thought I should ask you gals/ladies/women before forking out that amount for kick ass, modern, comfy lowish heels. They should be black. Not higher than 2 1/2 inches as I am very tall. Nothing on eBay that suits. It is for a wedding reception and other smart upcoming occasions so classic style desirable. Thanks! You're all amazing!

Have you looked at emotion shoes? Or actually, even new look - cheap and cheerful but they definitely go to a size 9 in all the widths they have!

ProtectiveMother · 07/10/2013 21:12

I should add that my feet are slightly different sizes but basically sometimes an 8 and sometimes a 9. Mostly a 42 but not always. I should really look in RL so if anyone has any pointers? Not in London or anywhere with fantastic choice either unfortunately... It's looking like I'm going to be forking out the 200£ isn't it? Grin

Usually Next shoes don't fit me, In House of Fraser only Nine West do my size and they have nothing suitable atm. Haven't actually looked in Debenhams in a while. Maybe Aldo- I think I got a pair there before... Are M&S shoes good? It's not something terribly sophisticated that I'm looking for- just black court shoes. The pair I like are suede but could be convinced to buy plain leather or patent leather. Any ideas appreciated!

I think duo do shoes in various widths., they call their 42 a UK9.

ProtectiveMother · 07/10/2013 21:14

Emotion shoes appear to be wide? I'm very narrow. Are New Look shoes any good? I was thinking they are sure to look cheap but I don't know...

Wow Duo look fab! Anyone have any reviews?

I have had 3 pairs of boots from there, all fantastic quality.. lots of reviews on the website too, which are helpful.

Willdoitinaminute · 07/10/2013 21:34

EU size 42 is actually UK size 8
If you are closer to 8 have you tried M&S, there Autograph range have some nice black courts this year. I have never found them particularly inspiring in the past but was impressed when I had a look this year. The size 8 seems to be generous.

ProtectiveMother · 07/10/2013 21:40

I like the second Boden shoe. No exact heel height on website and not a peep about whether they're narrow or wide in the reviews that I looked at. No Boden near me to try them on :-( I hate sending shoes back in the post!!

Oh thanks for the Duo recommendation and M&S tip!

I have found re: size that 42 is a UK size 8 OR a 9, depending on the brand. It varies wildly.

Anybody know if these are a narrow fit? To give you an idea, most/all of the shoes in Clarks (D fitting) are pretty wide on me!

AndTwoBits · 07/10/2013 21:55

It's saying the second boden pair heel height is 3",might be a little high? I know it's a pain returning shoes tho, I just remembered boden sell 42's!

ProtectiveMother · 07/10/2013 21:59

Yes 3 inches is too high. Hmm...

Thanks for that though :-) They do look good otherwise. Nothing at Duo in terms of court/kitten shoes is grabbing me so far...

JoanRanger · 08/10/2013 02:43

I'm about to spend almost £200 on a pair of shoes this Sat. Will try M&S and hotter first but if anyone else knows a high street RL place that has nice black leather good quality court shoes would love to hear! :-)

Or suede! :-)

I am a size 43 and narrow ( but I am definitely not an 8...I am a 9)

I have just been to Crispins today in Chiltern Street who go up to size 11 and specialise in narrow fittings. They are £££ but beautiful European shoes which will last for ever. i bought some Chelsea boots..£220. They do mail order.

Duo size 42 in a shoe is too short for me, yet their 42 in a boot does Confused ...have had boots from their for 4 years and they are still pristine.

ProtectiveMother · 08/10/2013 17:21

Very nice to meet you Mrs David Bowie. Sadly none of those shops near me.

Just the UK-wide shops near me.

Anyone tried the Marta Johnsson shoes at Debenhams? Is their 8 big? They're really nice looking online!

OP posts:
ProtectiveMother · 10/10/2013 07:31

Well I went into M&S and House of Fraser. M&S shoes size vary wildly. There was one pair of patent Mary Janes that fit but too high for me and not leather. Frankly, the shoes were unattractive I thought.

In HOF again a pair of patent shoes that fit. Again too high. Or red patent which was a bit too wizard of oz.

Looks like I'll be buying my super expensive pair!

I should maybe still try Debenhams and Next just in case (I find Next shoes really uncomfortable though!)

"I have just been to Crispins today in Chiltern Street who go up to size 11 and specialise in narrow fittings."

Sorry for the derail, but I adore Chiltern Street for it's array of specialist woodwind shops & outsize shoe emporia - if you are a large-footed lady bassoonist it must be like heaven.

Back on topic, Toast 42 is definitely a size 9, not a size 8 - but tend to be pricey, & don't think they have much suitable at the moment but maybe worth looking for on ebay.
