Make up wise, what's the best way to deal with under eye bags?

I'm in my 50s and tend to wear Barabara Daly primer followed by Barbara Daly foundation and I think I look fairly okay.........but I have eye bags (always have had) and they detract from my natural gorgeousness spoil the effect.

I'm sure there must be some way to make them look less awful - some sort of make up trickery with magical products I have funds.

Share your wisdom, please.

Are they dark or just baggy?

You could try a matt mineral powder over your cheeks and 'eye bags'? Make sure you don't use anything dark on the bottom half of the eye (eyeliner, etc) and just use liner, etc on the upper lid? It might distract from the lower eyes by emphasising the top lid? Just an idea - I'm no expert!
I think playing about with different uses with the things you already have like this might give you a few ideas?

Nars creamy concealer...

This is a really good tutorial on concealing eye bags. Essentially you take something (anything - powder, cream, concealer) lighter than your skin colour and you shade in the shadow that the bag makes (not the bag itself!) and voila, instant eye-bag removal.

I have done this successfully with Bare Minerals Mineral Veil btw. Just a v white powder. Definitely reduces eye bag visibility!

Timetohaveago! I have the solution (of sorts...)

Foundation 1st then apply cream concealer (rimmel do one which is fine) along the v bottom of the shadow in the crease and in a small triangle underneath. IT NEEDS TO BE 2-3 SHADES LIGHTER THAN YR SKIN. Blend in gently, apply bit of powder to set. Do top lid as normal, but only mascara on TOP lashes, same with any eyeliner except for maybe tiny bit in outside corner of eye.

Nude waterproof eye pencil - also rimmel. Run along inside the eye on the bottom to remove redness. Magic!

Cam also use a little lilac primer (no7) just on the shadow areas as it brightens.

Also highlighter powder on cheekbones, brow bones - to draw attention elsewhere rather than at the eyebags. Clever.

NO to touché éclat - will draw attention cos of sparkly bits.

I look loads better today. It takes time tho...and skill. Suspect it will be a while before I get it right.

dots of concealer on the bone underneath your eye. apparently the light bounces off, detracting from bags. That's what I was told by a make up pro anyway...

The trick is not to apply concealer to the bags but to the shadow the bags cause. It's a very subtle difference

i have been using the clinque all about eyes concealer recently and it's really good, you only need a tiny bit and it goes on really well. test some out!

I've tried loads of different concealers etc and make-up techniques for under eye bags. The only thing that has really improved the look of them is tear trough fillers. Not make-up, I know, but if funds permit and you are not opposed to the idea of fillers, then really worth it.

GossMakeUpArtist's technique is the one. In terms of concealers, I would go for a creamy, non-hilighting one like Collection 2000, Nars Creamy Concealer (the bees knees) or Bobbi Brown's. Then you could use a hilighting one likeYSL Touché Éclat as a tiny bit of hilight on brow bones and cheekbones. NOT as a concealer.
