Product with strong hold for messy bob look?

I've tried loads of waxes, gel waxes, hairsprays etc and they all hold for ten mins then my hair seems to absorb them and go back to normal, even if I use loads Confused What do I need to be using? I don't want it to be crispy and solid, don't mind if it feels a bit sticky.

So you want a smooth sleek bob, or you want a messy bob look?

MadameLeMean · 05/10/2013 18:54

I really liked V05 texturising gum when I had a bob.

ElizabethBathory · 05/10/2013 18:57

tresemme do a freeze hold spray but it really does make your hair freeze in the shape you spray

ElizabethBathory · 05/10/2013 18:58

I've made my own sea salt spray ggirl but hair just stays messy for half an hour. Should I try a bought one?

I 2nd the texturising gum, worked well for my messy bob in fine hair

ggirl · 05/10/2013 19:05

is your hair naturally very straight then?
not sure if store bought one would be any better , you can buy small travel size ones in boots to give them a go

gobbin · 05/10/2013 19:11

I've just had my ex-sleek bob chopped with long layers on Thursday. VO5 Extreme Rough It Up Spray is what I bought yesterday to get that look (tousled, bed head) and it works very well. It goes onto dry hair.

I have extremely fine hair which never holds product well but the spray has been great. It's not sticky, though you can feel you've got something in when you out your hands through your hair. You can josh it up during the day with your fingers and it has lasted from 10am til now. Give it a go.

Its wavy naturally ggirl, almost curly, so I blow dry it straight otherwise its all tangled and too messy. Maybe I'm trying to force it to do something it won't do.

Will try that then ggirl, thanks. Mines fine but loads of it, I think that might be why it absorbs the product then goes flat. Too much surface area...

I love that bob you have linked to. Mine needs to grow about another 2 inches and it will be that length. I use "Fat Hair" products. They add wheat protein and no oil and their hairspray will hold a sock in the wind stiff!!!!

ElizabethBathory · 06/10/2013 10:43

It's gorgeous isn't Rules! I have the cut and colour, need to work on the styling...will look at fat hair products, never heard of them.

I use this for my bob and really like it!

ElizabethBathory · 06/10/2013 23:07

Ah great more stuff to try, thanks :) think I'm a bit out of date with hair products as hair was long for ages before this and didn't need product. Love the idea of the mega dust!

Have you tried texturising powder? It's fab for volume and a messy kind of look, I've got a VO5 one at the minute but there's loads of different ones

sooperdooper · 06/10/2013 23:11

Ah sorry that's what you've just mentioned!! It's fab though, try the volume/texture powder it's ace
