Decent waterproof coat, budget £200ish, what do you recommend?

I need to buy a good waterproof and the budget is a maximum of £200ish. I live somewhere cold and rainy, walk the dog most days, don't drive so also walk everywhere even without the dog and want so teething warm but perhaps not too wintery so I can wear it most of the year without melting for part of it.

DH has just bought a fabulous Barbour (not the usual style, a more stylish version - will try and find a link) which will last him years, and I think it would be a good idea to do similar (and chuck all the leaky cheap ones we have festering in the cupboard away!)
I have looked at Rab ones but they may be too warm, and going to have a browse at Barbour ones now - any suggestions or recommendations...?
Thank you!

The one DH has bought, it looks far better in the flesh!

This is a thread from last year that I recently read through all 35 pages of (!). I ended up buying a Didriksons parka and I'm very happy with the way it looks on, even though it's VERY warm and I'm waiting for the weather to be properly chilly so I can start wearing it.

I think it is ok but it is not going to be great for you with your dog walking and stuff.
You will, I guess need something longer.
If you like Barbour they do longer ones than the type you looked at.

I did the same as marfisa and I'm awaiting my didrikson. I got so wet in my zara fashion parka yesterday I cant wait. I also may need more going on in my life becauseI am ridiculously excited about it arriving Hmm

Grin at sedgieloo. Not enough going on in my life either. Very annoying to have this fab coat in the closet and no one to show it off to! I keep taking it out and trying it on in front of the mirror for no reason.

I am normally not very fashion-obsessed, which probably explains why spending more than £100 on one item is such a big deal. I do like the Swedish combination of practical plus a little big funky though.
