What do you wear when it's cold and you're breastfeeding?

Vest underneath, top on top but it can't be too thick because then there's loads of fabric above the baby when you pull it up. Jumpers out for the same reason, so I guess I need nice warm cardigans. Skinny jeans and ankle boots are what I usually wear. Any other suggestions/advice?

If I make the rest of me super warm will it help when I have to have breasts easily obtainable? Thermal leggings under jeans, warm socks etc.

I just want to snuggle up in wool dresses and big jumpers when the weather gets cold, but just not an option this year.

I really want this and there are other lovely woollen dresses on the website. But expensive though, but could be an idea?

Otherwise I'm just thinking scarves to cover up the naked bits!

Oh, I was coming on to suggest exactly what you already do.
Was pretty much my uniform last winter. If you can pull down your vest from the top,it will minimise what you are pulling up and keep your stomach covered too.

Why can't you hitch up a wooly jumper? Ok, I get why dresses are out!

I really wanted one of those dresses last year! Dd was born end of jan so managed with cardigans and thin jumpers. I'm now tempted again but supposed to be saving up

I foolishly put on a big jumper the other day, but the amount of fabric bunched up under my armpits was just too bulky and uncomfortable. I could hardly see DS! I think I'm going down the cardigan route, if I can find some I like. Suggestions welcome.

Grrr, I just wrote a detailed reply and iPhone app swallowed it up.

The dress looks good but too pricy for me. I'll keep an eye out for some good cardigans and stick with the vest down, top up combo. Going to get some thermals to go under jeans and also look for some nice skirts and tights to get away from the jeans sometimes.

My problem with jumpers is the same as miss pennyapple's. Too much bulk getting in the way.

I remember this from last time, looking forward to getting out of bloody maternity wear to find a whole new set of restrictions with bf.

When it is cold I wear Uniqlo Heattechs everyday instead of a vest - they're very thin but like wearing a thermal top (the M&S version is good too though not as good IMO) A big scarf is a must - I got bought a cashmere scarf from Cos which I used to bf and dd uses still as a comfort blanket. There are loads of thin jumpers around in the shops - Gap have a great selection and they're thin enough to hoik up/Heattech down and boob out with big scarf over you both to keep you warm.

Can you please link me to any cashmere scarves? That sounds like something that could be a nice investment for me for after bf too.

Also like the sound of the heat tech vests. Is there anywhere I could go to try on? And what do I look for in m and s?

I have two of these 'wrap' tops, they dont tie at the back, but have panels across the boob, so easy for feeding when out & about.

Reduced to £14 - really good quality & have washed really well.

I've just googled cos cashmere scarf and found a gorgeous grey one for £60. Need to drop hints for Christmas and birthday time.

Second heattech tops. I wear a vest then a long sleeved heattech top over, then loose tops over that. Currently rocking the ver sized sweatshirt/embossed sweater style tops. Got a nice one from warehouse that has a jaquard pattern and a necklace collar on it. With toasty thermals underneath, it's perfect.

BOOB hoodies, you can get them relatively inexpensive on Ebay, nice warm hoodie, toasty fleecy bit over your chest, nice big slit to get boobs out, but sort of discreet with it, goes in the washing machine unlike your woolly stuff. Job done.
