Can these boots be worn with a dress and look good? I am 36 5'9" tall and a size 12 if it helps!

I apologise if my links don't work. I am hopeless on this iPad. I'm looking for boots to go with dresses and thick black tights for a night out. I'm thinking of this dress with them..

Hideous or nice?

It's a bit dull for a night out....

Something more like this? as it's Christmas soon.

AndTwoBits · 03/10/2013 15:00

I actually quite like that dress somethingyesterday. Be nice with my red hair.. The second cos dress in the grey is better in real life, honestly. Almost silvery. And would save me buying a dress. Hmm

I like this too. With tan tights (if this isn't naff) and black ankle boots?

How about

this skirt with a corresponding top?

If you're planning to be out a lot separates might be more versatile....

Somethingyesterday · 03/10/2013 15:16

....Tan tights......?

AndTwoBits · 03/10/2013 15:22

Ok ok! Black thick tights it is so. I wouldn't go bare legged (pale and a bit chubby) and every dress is modelled with bare legs. Just thought maybe!

Sorry I'm not ready for skirts, I am barely able to cope with dresses and they are more straight forward!

Ok my last attempt at style.

Heads melted. This my last try of the day!

I guess I'm getting old, Betsy... That, or 'one woman's dull is another woman's classic'... :)
Maybe it's just me but I think putting clumpy boots with such a pretty dress looks daft... It reminds me of that Morecambe and Wise sketch where they put work boots on Shirley Bassey... Clumpy shoes, for me, just look completely at odds with a beautiful, feminine dress. Just my two penneth...

feelinlucky · 03/10/2013 17:30

Op, good taste, great combi, love it but I'm a big Cos fan.

noddyholder · 03/10/2013 17:34

Love the dress. I bought the silver stories boots and they are v nice

MyBoilsAreFab · 03/10/2013 17:54

I think your grey dress with the Cos boots, biker jacket, some really chunky silver jewellery, red hair and red lippie (or a strong colour you suit) would rock!

RainierWolfcastle · 03/10/2013 18:14

that blue thing looks like a parachute

AndTwoBits · 03/10/2013 18:53

Ok cool. I am going to end my suffering now, wear the grey dress with my biker jacket, red lippy and black tights n boots. Will try on the cos boots in shop. If they don't suit, and to be honest they're pricey anyway, at least I only have the boots to stress over. Thanks for all your opinions. They were very mixed but appreciate them all.

Agreed with Boils and you, TwoBits! It's a good strong look :) Have fun.

AndTwoBits · 03/10/2013 19:05

Ah thanks garlicvampire!

I think that will look great.

But really really like those silver boots tethersend linked to..... I want them, why did I click on this thread..?

tethersend · 06/10/2013 09:30

AndTwoBits- did you see? Your first floral Cos dress was listed in the Guardian Style section as a must-have yesterday. here Trust yourself!

tethersend · 06/10/2013 09:31

Have often wondered if someone at the guardian readsS&B, as they they often feature things which have been discussed on here...

MyBoilsAreFab · 06/10/2013 19:02

Ooh, shall we mess with their heads?

AndTwoBits · 06/10/2013 20:45

Well now, I shall doubt myself no more! That's given me a boost, as I'm only recently getting back into fashion, now my baby sleeps and I have the energy! Might just have to buy the blooming dress now!
