Where can I buy birkenstaocks on the high street, if I am paying £30 for a pair of sandals I at least want to try them on. I canonly find cheap uncomfy copies.

I would say that Birkenstock in the high street could end up costing quite a bit over £30 (that's the beauty of ebay), however, don't expect a comfortable fit when you try them on, they are QUITE uncomfortable until you mold them to your own feet.

I buy from Schuh,Office or Raw which are my local stockists - If you are in London there is a Birkenstock shop in Covent Garden.

spacedonkey · 28/06/2006 09:13

they come up big too, I'm a size 8 and the size 8 birkies were massive on me

Thanks, i wasn't sure about the fit, ihave bought a cheap pair of looky likeys, which will do for the amount of times I will wear them. I am watching a couple of pairs so I may end up with more .

Its true, they are 'all' uncomfortable, whether birkenstocks or copies until you mould them. Then they are so comfy they just get glued to my feet! .

I got some from Faith - £20

i got mine for 39.99 from a local shop. the selfridges in birmingham had the same pair for 45. but she gave it for 40. coz my mom wanted some.
im sure loads of other places do them

John Lewis have them too

If there was a section for comfort rather than style I would have put it there .

I do draw the line at this look

Have you tried TK Maxx? They have branded shoes a lot cheaper, not sure about birkenstocks but I got a pair of Hotter shoes half the price they are in normal shoe shops.

PrettyCandles · 29/06/2006 14:51

When you've tried them on, note the style etc and then go by from Ebay or Jestel!

Costco often do some styles at much reduced prices.

Piffle · 29/06/2006 14:54

yep birks are not stylish in the least but jaysus they are comfy for around the house and just popping on
I live in mine. I got mine from ebay for £20 I tried them on in a shop to ascertain perfect sizing and which style I wanted.
Have had them 3 years and am ordering some for ds 12 shortly
