I'm never going to get the boots I want!

I love the National Sugar boots on previous threads. First I thought that due to being in Ireland I couldn't order them online as UK site doesn't deliver to ROI. Then someone told me about Parcel Motel and hope was restored as could get them delivered to address in the north.

Just tried to order them and the UK site accepts the Parcel Motel address but won't accept non-UK credit cards.

I spoke to a lovely guy in Clarks customer service and the best he can advise is to order them to a Clarks store here but that means a 150 mile round trip and the boots end up costing €50 more.

I have wide feet and am a little chunky of calf so it's difficult to find footwear. It's so disappointing.

Have you tried Amazon and Brantano?

peachesandpickles · 01/10/2013 18:21

Amazon don't have the wide fit. Hadn't heard of Brantano. Will try there, thanks.

They take Paypal - could you see if you can pay that way and order?

peachesandpickles · 01/10/2013 18:52

They need an credit card with UK billing address before you get to the payment option.

I don't know if it's different for you where you are but I have just tried. When I got to the page where you add your address etc, I filled that in and then clicked proceed to payment. This threw up 4 options, the top one of which was Paypal. I clicked it and if I'd chosen to I could have just put in my Paypal password and checked out, no credit card details required...

peachesandpickles · 01/10/2013 19:21

Thanks Leo It's asking me for a billing address - maybe because I already tried the credit card. Maybe if I delete the address it might work.

If not I think I'll give up.

I know it's a bit of a risk, but I also have wide feet, and chunky calves, and the normal ones fit me fine. The calf bit especially is actually split from half way up (held closed by the buckles which can be adjusted) so certainly the calf wouldn't be an issue. But maybe the paypal thing above would be a better bet. Good luck!

peachesandpickles · 01/10/2013 19:23

Tried that. Won't let me go to the payment page without a billing address.

Hmmm, hen buying online there is sometimes a delivery address and a billing in case the person wants an item delivered to an address other than their home address... My chosen delivery address (home) is also my billing address, so I just ticked 'use for billing address'. Did you do that? Your Paypal account is linked to your home address, so if you just enter your delivery address then tick 'use for billing address', then click on 'proceed to payment' and choose Paypal... That should allow you to check out and have the boots delivered to your home. LMK how you get on (btw...I would empty your basket, log out and then log in again and start over) .
HTH :)

LeoandBoosmum · 01/10/2013 19:29

Btw, maybe go for the wide fit (and put an inner sole in and wear really chunky socks to compensate)... I think you can work with boots that are too wide but you'll be in agony if the normal fitting is a slim fit...

LeoandBoosmum · 01/10/2013 19:30

Why can't you put in a billing address (they need an address to bill to even if it's Paypal - your address is linked to your Paypal account)... sorry if I am sounding ignorant...Confused

peachesandpickles · 01/10/2013 19:40

I could tick the box and have the billing address the same as the delivery address but that's the address for a Parcel Motel delivery service. Do you think it would be ok to do that if I was paying by PayPal?

OP posts:
LeoandBoosmum · 01/10/2013 19:41

Oh, sorry, just read your original post. Not sure I understand exactly. Your can enter a different delivery address (ie Parcel Motel) but put your own address in for billing and pay by Paypal, can't you?

LeoandBoosmum · 01/10/2013 19:44

I'm not sure because when when you check out using Paypal your home address is linked to it, not parcel Motel's, so that could create confusion (and might mean you get a message saying they can't send to you)... Is there anyway you could contact Parcel Motel and ask them if there is anything you can do in your situation? They might have helpful advice.

peachesandpickles · 01/10/2013 19:47

It won't accept my address for billing as it isn't a UK address.

I'm so fed up with Clarks now that I think I will forget about it. The boots are £89.99 which converts to €107 but to buy instore they are €160. They deliver to all the following countries but not the Republic of Ireland. I'm sure it's a franchise thing or something but it is ridiculous.

Austria
Belgium
Bulgaria
Cyprus

Czech Republic
France
Germany
Greece

Hungary
Luxembourg
Netherlands
Portugal

Slovakia
Slovenia
Spain (including Balearic islands)

Peachesandpickes,

Is it the brown you're after? If you'd take black or brown in a standard fit (if they have your size...and being boots they may fit on the wide side anyway...or go up a half size?) look here:

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clarks-National-Sugar-Black-Leather-Boots-Size-3-9-UK-/281130199051?pt=UK_Women_s_Shoes&var=580207070555&hash=item4174aa680b#shpCntId

and (this seller stipulates shipping in the UK but if you contact they may post out to you for a little extra?)

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clarks-National-Sugar-Brown-Leather-Buckle-Detailed-Boot-Various-Sizes-/271258655066?pt=UK_Women_s_Shoes&var=570178216780&hash=item3f2846995a

Or this seller posts worldwide? Check returns before buying, just in case :)
