Is it possible to streak my own hair at home?

Basically I dye my hair red, which I like.

I would like black streaks in.

I dont really want to go to a hairdressers for this.

I cut my own hair (thanks to MN) and dye my own hair, but block dye it.

Can I do it at home or do I need to go to the hairdressers?

What is your natural colour?

you can streak your own hair, BUT it is much easier to get a friend to do it! Seriously so much easier to pick up bits of someone elses hair, apply tinfoil, colour and fold into tinfoil on someone elses head!

Think some of the hair dye companies do streak wands (think big mascara brush, and you could do that yourself, but I have NO idea how well they work or not as the case may be.

My natural hair colour is light/medium brown with grey bits in. Ive been dyeing my hair red for a couple of years now though.

It would be DH doing it as he dyes it now anyway (I make a right mess if I do it)
