Jigsaw knitwear - faulty?

I bought a jumper from Jigsaw costing £75, after wearing it for one evening and one day it has gone all bobbly down the sides and the front and back look scruffy and old, it looks like it will require defuzzing everytime I wear it - would it be reasonable for me to return it as faulty?

I don't see why not - it's a high cost per wear at one wear!

I think their knitwear has really gone down in quality over the last couple of years, I've had this with a few items which is a shame.

I returned one cardigan that had developed a hole after 2 wears. They exchanged it.

I returned a wrap cardi a few years ago as it left bits over my clothes (moulted) every time I wore it and it just looked awful like it was disintegrating over me. Got a credit note as 'good will'. I used to LOVE Jigsaw.

I use to work for company and at my store we would not of accepted it back as faulty unless all garments had been recalled. Unfortunately its the

Posted too soon sorry
Unfortunately its the nature of the knitwear that they sell it tends to have a very high% off wool especially if its an angora/mohair mix.

I know this doesn't help but if you de-pill it and wash in cold water it will stop after a few wears.

mylovelymonster · 28/09/2013 21:02

Someone in the industry told me it was due to using shorter/cheaper fibres.
I bought a beautiful merino wool cardi in J about 10 years ago, and it is a good quality weight, sleek, soft, and looks good as new. Never bobbled or shed. I can't match that quality with anything found in mid-range clothing stores these days, and probably not for the past 6 years. Quality has plummeted everywhere.

Jigsaw is not the same as it used to be. Hobbs isn't bad and Whistles is pretty good (for knitwear). Wool does tend to pill and bobble but shouldn't after one wear. I find merino (The White Company) pretty good, tends not to bobble too much and the bobbles that do develop are easy to remove with a little defuzzing comb (be gentle though). I have a lambswool cardigan from Phase Eight (from about ten years ago) and it is really high quality...also washes great and needs debobbling only every now and again. I do think in recent years the quality has general gone down, as mylovelymonster said...

Oh, and yes, I would take it back. I would ask if you could even exchange for something else if they are reluctant to refund. The sooner you take it back after purchase the better as they are less likely to be suspicious that you've worn it to death and are just trying to get your money back. Some sales assistants are like the Gestapo! Grin
