Considering laser hair removal for legs - am I nuts?

Has anybody had laser hair removal for such a large area? Just wondering if it might work or if I'll have to remortgage the house to pay for it.

I'm very pale skinned but super hairy. Seriously - like a gorilla. If I wax I get regrowth within 2 days and really bad ingrown hair.

Is it a good idea?

I'm considering one of those Phillips Lumea thingies. I think it would be cheaper than having it all done professionally...

I've got an older model boots ipl machine and have had ipl in a salon prior to buying the machine.
I've used it on my bikini legs and underarms and had very good results with what appears permanent hair removal. I know not everyone has good results though.
I'm very pale with very dark body hair.

I had a phillips lumea which I used for around a month. It did work for a while, that was last year, the hair has now come back completely.

I have heard it works best on fair skinned people with dark hair and also they recommend (at least my local salon does) a top up session once a year.

I would love to have it done but don't have that amount of money spare!
