For sixth form next year, DS needs to wear a suit but due to forthcoming work experience we need to buy one soon, any recommendations/tips please?

How does the Next suit wash?

Is the Top Man suit dry clean only? Like the sound of it but it has to be washable....

I recommend m and s washable suits which come in at well under £100 - I think £70ish. When DS1 was in lower sixth I bought a suit from Next but probably spent the price of the suit again on dry cleaning during the course of the school year and it was only fit for the bin after a year. He had got ink on it, screwed it into a ball in his bag innumerable times when going skating after school, worn down the piping etc.

The machine washable ones look ok. Don't think DH would wear them but they aren't appalling! Another big plus for me was marks was the only place I could find a 28 inch waist trouser with a long inside leg. This is only a consideration if you have a tall skinny teen of course but there are lots if them around! I bought from their extra small range to get the long narrow styles my DSs need but I think they do them in the standard sizes too.

isnt it funny how many of us have skinny teens yet you never see clothes ranges for them?

TheFallenNinja · 28/09/2013 13:18

I wouldn't bother with a suit if it's just an office. Shirt and tie will be fine.

MissScatterbrain · 28/09/2013 15:10

I might as well get a suit...he won't be warm enough without a jacket anyway.

He is one of those tall skinny teens - a real PITA as there aren't many stores with long trousers in 28 inch waist sizes.
