Who wears all these bloody converse? Mum shoes

HackneyCabbage · 10/10/2013 07:11

Kiehls, because they do bigger size bottles which work out much cheaper in long run. Moisturizer and cleansers great and the big bottles last forever. Second burts bees.. Toms shoes also v cheap. visits to Wholefoods.

The only thing really worth doing is going to Sephora - I love Tarte, especially their sheer blush stick in blushing bride and you can't get it here.
Mostly, if you've heard of it, then its unlikely to be cheaper than here. But I do buy tights as you can get more tall brands there

carrie74 · 10/10/2013 10:53

Peanut butter M&Ms or almond M&Ms

VS undies

Jeans (I really like Lucky Brand)

Sam Edelman shoes

MAC make-up

DKNY cozies

Many of the best bargains though are if you luck out during a great sale.

bottleofbeer · 10/10/2013 12:10

I didn't find it that much cheaper tbh. Sephora, definitely.

If in NY Century 21, not far from Batery Park.

Yup. Still SAFE

Fishandjam · 10/10/2013 22:33

this dress from Old Navy. I bought one a couple of weeks ago and it looks great on.

Lighthousekeeping · 10/10/2013 23:54

I love Old Navy and I have Levi's on my list.

CMOT, Tarte is brilliant, isn't it? Have never used their Cheek Stain but will absolutely be keeping an eye out for it when next in the states. 'Blushing Bride' looks way too dark for me, but 'Awakening' looks just perfect. Thanks for the tip!

I want to shop here

www.bluetreenyc.com/Welcome

Remember the beautiful Phoebe Cates, the model and actress from many films of the 1980s? She married Kevin Kline! raised their children and in 2005 opened a store called Blue Tree.

CMOTDibbler · 11/10/2013 09:15

Shadows - don't be fooled by the colour it looks in the stick, the cheek stuff is so sheer you get the tiniest bit at a time. I'm very pale, and need two dabs per cheek to get a lovely flush of colour thats very natural

Lighthousekeeping · 11/10/2013 09:56

Blue tree is expensive! It reminds me of a shop here.

I'm really looking for bargains or things you can't buy here.

Are there any good baby shops?

Macy's gave us a 10% 'international visitors' discount -think details are here, though there are lots of exclusions (It's basically your sales tax back)

www.visitmacysusa.com/visitors/savings.cfm

Combined with sale prices we got some excellent deals.

NewBlueShoesToo · 16/10/2013 17:40

Are Gymboree still going over there? I loved their baby clothes.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 16/10/2013 17:59

Gymboree old navy for children clothing also dd loves children's place and ps shes 7 and the styles are very much gap but cheaper.

Lighthousekeeping · 18/10/2013 23:16

I haven't got long to go now. I need a list! Levi Curves are on there or, are there better jeans to be had?

OP posts:
Karbea · 18/10/2013 23:30

I used to get lots of stuff in the US but now the only things worth buying are from sophora, the exchange rate is such that most other things really aren't bargains anymore.

Lighthousekeeping · 19/10/2013 06:52

Levi's are. Especially if you get them on sale. I know what you mean though. The quality of Victoria's Secret has gone right down hill as well.

Someone today told me Ralph Lauren children's clothes from the outlets. I never even looked at them before.
