How easy is it? Can you recommend a good brand?

I personally don't think a home dye job really works well, assuming you are looking for a nice blonde as opposed to all over bleach. I have always been able to tell a home dye job when friends have done it but hopefully someone will come along and give you the name of something great!

Save up & get it done professionally, I've tried loads over the years. Many look brassy & I seem to end up with lines round my head where I put one on top of another after 6-8 weeks of regrowth iyswim Smile

I did it with L'Oreal Excellence Dark Blonde; took my light brown hair to ... well, dark blonde.

Do you ladies have yours done at the salon? How often do you go back to deal with the roots?

I've been dying my hair blonde for 25 yrs and apart from a few hideous DIY attempts I've always got a hairdresser to do it. It can be expensive but I now get a mobile hairdresser to do it & she's much cheaper than a big salon.

I pay about £35-£40 for highlights every 2 mths or so.

I pay just under £40 every ten weeks so save four quid a week towards it. Doesn't seem like such a big spend all at once then Smile

My hair's naturally quite dark but the roots don't look too bad if I go regularly

I have been dying my hair for 10 years now.I use loreal extra light blonde. If it goes a bit brassy then I use touch of silver brightening shampoo-is miracle stuff.

Hi gals, my hair is in a pixie crop so i think too short for highlights. Will check out the options ladies. Thankyou!
