Right I need some bag-related advice

Reading a number of threads has sparked me into thinking I need a new bag. For years I have been using a fairly plain grey rucksack to toe all the rammel about. But DS2 is 3 and I really don?t need to carry so much (hurrah!).

What I do need is space for a water bottle (sorry Cod ), purse, cards, big (A5) diary, maybe a pair of paints and shorts for ds2.

I have a lovely soft leather bag for work, but IO need this for days when I am off with the kids, for taking to the park, to toddler group etc.
Nailpolish ( I think) linked me to a lovely beach bag at Accessorise and I did like it, but I actually think it was a bit big ( that any bag could be too big).

Anyone seen anything nice? Not necessarily leather in fact probably not, as that feels a bit ?worky? to me. Oh and not too expensive either lol.
TIA

come on ladies, I am going to town at lunchtime. I need this bag now. Cod, you're usually so good at this?

I've just got a fab silver summer bag from zara. Reduced from £35 to £19 atm. Big enough for all the kids stuff I cart around, but quite funky with it.

I have a big gold leather bag from Topshop which does the job FABULOUSLY darling

accessorise do good ones too

I wouldnt bother getting a beachy fabric one as I think they look too studenty and also don't hold any leaks (from water bottle or open packs of wipes) very well.

can I go for leather then? Will it look casual enough?
Will bob into town in a bit and check out TopShop (ignoring hooter) and Zara.
thanks girls.

soft leather a must

river island do an orange one which is really nice

puddle · 26/06/2006 14:34

Clary report back - what did you get?

Clary · 26/06/2006 14:52

ah you see, I looked in River Island and the orange one was NOT THERE.
tempted by one from accessorize which I can't now findon the website but unsure as it had a big knitted flower on the front and was maybe a bit OTT.
No Zara here either until the new shopping centre is built (grr).
Will I have to look on line? Do RIsland do mail order?

clary

big floppy bags are in just now, and the one i linked to you was waterproof

but i can see why a bag could be too big - you can NEVER find anything in it ever

what kind of bag do you like?

my favourite places for bags are accessorise, top shop, and oasis

also, Tesco and Asda have great bags, and at these prices you could even have 2!

happy shopping

nailpolish · 26/06/2006 14:59

nice bags here

Clary · 26/06/2006 14:59

yes naily (thought it was you) I keep struggling to fidn my purse in my rucksack because there's so little in it now (used to be full of nappies, clothes for at least 2 smalls, wipes, snacks, drinks etc etc with purse perched on top lol).
I think I fancy somethign a bit ornamented, not just plain leather and certainly not black or plain brown.
i'd not thought of Asda! May have to check tonight!!
