So, I've put on a leetle beet of weight... need a strategy!

Ooops I've put on 3kg accidentally. I have actually no idea how, but suspect it is cos I have been quite but with lots of other things and have got a bit lazy about preparing decent food for myself.

Doesn't sound much, but I can feel it and I hate it. I've gone from a comfy 8 to really needing a 10.

Quickest ways to drop 3kg please, and what do you wear when you've accidentally "let yourself go" a bit? And what do you reckon is the most successful mind reset strategy when you are trying to get back into the mindful eating/positive body image headspace..

My Fitness Pal. Calorie counting app. I've lost all my 'baby weight' (4 years after dd, 1 year after DS) in 6 weeks.

If you don't buy it, you can't eat it!

I'd recommend 5:2. It might not be the quickest but it is the most sustainable IMO.

Smugsmuggler · 25/09/2013 21:22

Yep thinking 5:2 and some dresses is the way to go.

Low carb boot camp - you'll drop that in a week! Head on over to the low carb threads

sedgieloo · 25/09/2013 21:40

5:2 worked for me with the odd 4:3 and no treats

sedgieloo · 25/09/2013 21:42

No treats...on non fast days except for the weekend sped the whole thing up (impatient soul) otherwise it's seems to be about 1lb a week loss for most doing 5:2 if they make no other changes

OP I am in the same boat having gained 10lbs in the last 6 months due to my thyroid playing up (am on thyroxine but my body decided it needed more!). I thought it was due to inactivity but when I started daily workouts and couldnt shift a single pound I knew it had to be more than just laziness. I start my new dose tomorrow so if you want to we can spur each other on :). I'm not keen on diets - I am aiming to stick to my usual healthy diet with slightly less cake and continue with daily exercise. I am using alternating between Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism and Exhale Core Fusion Body Sculpt workout. I also run 5km twice a week.

I hate the feeling of the extra weight too - not because I am now a 10 but more because I just don't feel comfy in my own clothes and don't want to buy more. Agree with others that dresses are the way to go until the weight comes off.

My strategy is quite hardcore but it works:

Each day:

Superfood shakes:

  • barleygrass, wheatgrass + spirulina
  • purple corn + acai berry
  • blended vegetable juices.

Miso soup

As much fruit & vegetables as you want.

A little bit of protein each but no starchy carbs.

Nuts/seeds/dried fruit to snack on (but not too much)

Fast walk of 40-60 mins every day.

I try not to lose more than a pound or two a week, otherwise it doesn't stay off. In 6 weeks those 6 pounds (3 kilos) will be gone.

Twinklestein · 25/09/2013 22:22

A little bit of protein each day that should say.

OP are you feeling motivated now? Smile
