Knee high boots for fat calves - internet shopping only

Here's my challenge - am uninspired by Duo's offerings this winter and unwilling to spend 175 on a pair I'm not in love with.

So I'm looking for cheaper, criteria as follows:-

  1. Must be real leather
  2. Black, chestnut/tan, shade of red
  3. Rounded or squared toe
  4. Preferably biker/riding style
  5. Not flat, heel no greater than 3" and must be blocky/sturdy

Any leads you could give me would be great. I need to order online due to geographical restrictions (i.e., hours from a shopping centre!) and so if you've seen anything up close and personal which doesn't look like it comes from PVC Hookers R Us, please let me know!

Jd Williams - you measure your calf and match it to the size of boot so they fit perfectly.
Lovely boots - I wore mine every day last winter and they are still good to go for this year.

Have bought another two pairs for this year right enough.

WhatAPredicament · 25/09/2013 19:29

Just got some from Very, So Fabulous (euphemistic title of range for those on the chunky side) - black, leather, biker style. Fit the bill but at a price I can afford at the moment.

emsyj · 25/09/2013 19:29

I've just got these in the wide fit - there is a 20% off code too.

PennyHofstadter · 25/09/2013 19:30

I've just bought some knee high flat boots from Simply Be. The majority of styles are available in 5 different calf sizes and 3 different widths. It might be worth a look on there?

PennyHofstadter · 25/09/2013 19:31

Also I think they may still be doing the 10% off first orders as well.

LittleNoona · 25/09/2013 19:31

emsyj - aren't they just wide foot fitting?

If not, do you think they might stretch to an 18inch calf Blush

emsyj · 25/09/2013 19:32

Oh, meant to say, I didn't particularly like them online but ordered them after seeing them in store when I was in there to return a different pair. They are much nicer in real life - lovely quality. With the 20% off code I paid £112 for them and they are very comfortable and plenty of room in the calf for my fat never-fit-in-knee-boots legs. Smile

emsyj · 25/09/2013 19:33

No, I thought they were just wide foot - I have wide feet as well as wide everything else! But they're wide calf - it's printed on the inside of the boot 'Wide Calf' so definitely!

I will try and find a tape measure and see how big my calves are - they zip over skinny jeans on me...

Furball · 25/09/2013 19:34

Next do wide fit

emsyj · 25/09/2013 19:37

OK, just measured my calves over jeans (which is how I tried the boots on) and they are 16 and a quarter inches - the boots would be fine up to 17 inches I think, not sure about 18, you would be best to try them on as they may well fit - Clarks do free delivery and free returns so worth a try?

Rooners · 25/09/2013 19:38

If you want snow-type/walking boots then Merrell Natalya are very wide in the calf.

lotsofcheese · 25/09/2013 19:39

Marisota?

LittleNoona · 25/09/2013 19:43

Does anyone have the discount code for clarks?

MrsKoala · 25/09/2013 19:43

I have wide calves and find boots from Jones the bootmaker (with buckles or laces usually) fit okay. What is the size of your calves? they give the measurements on the website usually.

emsyj · 25/09/2013 19:44

BOOM - minimum spend £60

LittleNoona · 25/09/2013 19:45

Thanks emsyj - will have to go in store and try and them on (squishing my fat trotters in ugly sisters style!)

Geordieminx · 25/09/2013 19:45

Sainsburys have a gorgeous pair of tan riding boots in just now. £55 but 20% off. Not online though sorry

ColouringInQueen · 25/09/2013 19:53

Moshulu do some great boots - I can't get into most Clarks boots, but can get into their standard ones, and they do a wide fit version too.

standard width

wide fit

They post all the measurements inc calf circumf on their website too
here

good luck!

I ordered these last week and am wide of calf. They fit perfectly.

Thank you for all the tips - I've found a pair from M&S which I love!
