I need a dress for a party on Saturday that will also work for Christmas Day - anyone seen anything lately?

I don't buy many dresses as I don't go out much! But I need one for Saturday and I like to dress up on Christmas Day so I thought I'd try to kill two birds with one stone (mainly because I'm trying to save money!). But I can't find anything!

I'm 5'9", size 10, boobs, very pale. Long body so waists on dresses often sit too high. I like retro/vintage style and usually automatically go for belted dresses with full skirts. But I tried on a fitted shift dress the other day and quite liked it. Hmmm....

But I'm running out of time! Any ideas?

I know someone mentioned it on a thread a while ago and I have 2 now but I'm eyeing up a few more Blush

IHeartKingThistle · 25/09/2013 22:59

Are they ok quality?

Yeah, of the two I have one is really nice fabric, the other one feels a bit cheaper but for the price I think they're good. The fabric is thick with a good stretch and they are well sewn. I haven't worn them loads but they've washed well so far. The delivery was very quick.

What do we think of this one?

Oh, in the plain black!

I have that Hearts and Roses dress Thistle and while it's fab it is very very very small fitting. Size up!!

Whitershadeofpale · 26/09/2013 08:39

I love that one but prefer the black polka dot. I think it would look fab on you.

Oh no I ordered the 10 last night! Just emailed them to ask if I can change it, hope they haven't sent it already! Thanks for the tip!

Now worried the the waist bit is going to be nowhere near my actual waist...

Oh arse just had a dispatch email. Do I just order the bigger one and return the 10? They haven't replied. Why are things never simple?!

Yay they've swapped it! Leslie I'm trusting your judgement on this one!

Oh yikes Shock Grin

Mine is a 14 and I'm a 12-14 in most shops yet I can only fit in that dress when I'm at my absolute post-month of low carb starvation weight Grin

Fingers crossed for you!

IHeartKingThistle · 26/09/2013 12:26

I'm sitting here eating pate on a bagel. I'm not going to fit into it am I?

This is why said dress is hiding at the back of my wardrobe and won't see light of day till I reintroduce myself to Jillian Michaels Blush

Paté though.......Mmmmmmm

IHeartKingThistle · 26/09/2013 14:21

Stupid fattening pate. Mmmmm...

I don't wear fitted dresses. This may be a shock to the system. No VPLs in a circle skirt!

Yes I agree about that dress being tiny-I was persuaded by an over enthusiastic shop assistant to try it on in my normal size of 16 and I very nearly got stuck in it! Lovely dress though.

IHeartKingThistle · 28/09/2013 16:24

It is here!

I really like it - I could have got away with the 10 but the 12 is lovely and comfy.

Right, how do I do my hair?
