Skinny jeans for mummy tummy / post-pregnancy??

I'm desperately after some comfortable skinny jeans for my post baby body (dd2 born six weeks ago). I've got a lovely pair of straight leg from seraphine that I wear even when not pregnant, but am struggling to find skinnies that are high waisted enough to cover my tummy but don't ride down or dig in when sit down. I've tried Boden superskinny jeans but 10 was too tight and 12 was too big. Seraphine skinnies are v comfortable but the fabric is too thin and not great quality. Can anyone recommend another brand?

M&s jeggings got me through an awkward patch - but uniqlo superskinnies are better jeans all round. And you need to size down massively which is always a booster for the ego!

Ahh uniqlo - yes, I saw them on website but sold out in my size so couldn't get any. Are they better stocked across the size 8-10 sizes in stores do you know? Thanks for the reco by the way :-)

Yes to Uniqlo. I'm a 10-12 on the bottom and can easily get into their 28 waist jeans. NB the ultra stretch (super skinny style) only come in 33 leg so unless you're v tall, best to buy in store and have them taken up (free). Good selection in Ox St store if you are in London.

I'd second the m&s jeggings, living in them at present. Haven't tried uniqlo though.

At 6 weeks post pregnancy I would say just wait - you're in one of those really annoying awkward in-between stages and if you run out and get something now, unless they're very stretchy in a few weeks those might be too big too (voice of bitter experience).

I think I wore my big maternity jeans, then smaller maternity jeans, then stretchy leggings and yoga pants, then about 8 weeks I treated myself to a great new pair of jeans that fit perfectly. By 12 weeks the waistband was too big though the legs still fit fine, but it was too late to return them.

They all seem to come in the same colours and are mid-rise? I can't work out which to go for!?

No! Need to go way lower. Seriously order a 26 and 27. I am in a 25 and am a generous 10 on the thigh and still have a mum tum. No bum though. And I am considering sizing down for my next pair.

No idea what the a/b/c malarkey is.

But I'd also recommend Sainsbury's Sculpted Jeans. They hold you in a bit, but are comfy and not too low rise. And of course, supermarket price, which is always a help when your shape is changing.

I like the Dorothy Perkins ultra soft Eden Jeggings. Find the fit on the M&S ones is a tad more restrictive as it's a proper waist, whereas DP is elasticated.

I love my pair from phase eight. Think called lexi. I struggled with post baby bulging tummy and for some reason all my jeans slid down and showed an attractive builders butt. High waisted is the answer and these are so comfy!

Could you possibly measure your uniqlo jeans across the top for me?! The 25s? The jeans that fit me best are about 17inches laid flat across the waist and they fit me on the hips (not waist) which is where I come unstuck at ordering online?!

I too have ordered Uniqlo on the back on this thread - thanks everyone for the recommendations. I've gone for the skinny tapered fit though because I read somewhere that the material on these was a bit thicker. I'm totally confused by the sizing. I'm a true size 10 and based on the size measuring guide on uniqlo website I've ordered a size 28 - but also size 27 and 29 so hopefully one of these will be the right fit. Have absolutely no idea what a,b,c stands for - could it mean different denim washes?

Asda do great high waisted jeans...they are shaper kind of ones. can't remember what the proper name of them are!

£18 a pair...skinny, straight or bootleg style.

I'm erring on the side of the 29/30 size. There's no way my waist would get near a 28 or smaller!!?

I've just bought a pair of red herring skinny cords and they are fab if that's any use?

Yes, I ordered from the website. I bit the bullet and paid £3.95 delivery. I think I'll have to return the sizes that dont fit to store though because they don't do free returns and not sure if they do click & collect. I'm now wondering whether I should have ordered size 26 too based on what I've read on other threads about their jeans sizing huge. Arggh why does it have to be so complicated :-(

Right, my 25" uniqlo are 15 inches across, measured from widest point to widest point with button done up. bear in mind that I have been wearing them for 4 days (I basically live in them!). They are snug when out of the wash but not ridiculously tight. They have tons of stretch, you need to buy the tightest ones you can, I reckon. They loosen up with wear but not too much, so no saggy arse or knees.

That's really helpful, thank you! I have measured my trusty gap premium super skinny jeans which have done me proud for 3 years but now are getting v worn! They are of similar unstretched proportions to the garment measurements of the Uniqlo 28s. BUT the thigh on my Gap ones are 9 inches across but the uniqlo ones say they're nearly 11?! They sound baggy?!!

Quick update - my uniqlo jeans arrived today and they are great! I'm keeping the size 27 and returning the 28 & 29. As a reference for anyone else confused about uniqlo sizing, I'm a size 10 with a mummy tum and the 27 inch waist are the best fit. The model I went for are their skinny tapered fit D, nice thick denim. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of uniqlo!

Thanks for the update Bambi and glad you have found something you feel good in. How were they on length?

They are 33 inches fixed length whatever the waist size - fine length for me, but apparently if you buy them in store they will shorten them for you.

HandMini - just realised you were the one who told me they shorten the jeans for free in store so sorry for telling you what you already know ;-)
