I have 2 evening occasions coming up- a work boat cruise, and a birthday meal out with friends. All of my 'going out' dresses are years old and last time I went out I felt unfashionable compared to other people.

I'm 31 and a size 12 with a big tummy but slim arms and legs. On the one hand don't feel comfortable showing lots of flesh a la new look type dresses, but still want something more up to date than my years old pre-dc dresses.

Any ideas gratefully received, budget £40 or so.

I bought this in cobalt blue recently and felt fab. It's a bit over budget but the material is great, holds you in and gives you a great silhouette and looks expensive. There might be some Oasis codes floating about, there usually are.
