Ingrown hairs and laser hair removal for bikini area.

I don't use hair removal products because have issues with ingrown hair, it's been getting worse and my GP has suggested I waxed the whole lot off but I have read that this can cause even more ingrown hairs, so it have shelved that idea.

Have thought that maybe I could have it all removed by laser or light therapy, I know it might be costly but atm I am in extreme pain and would do anything, I could barely move at the weekend and I've had enough but does anyone know if this solution is likely to work?

I have had laser hair removal in numerous places including my face (I am transsexual). Definitely the way to go for problem hair, I had ingrowing hair under one armpit and was going to spend my life shaving them and having occasional pain when I thought one day why not have it removed for ever!
Not cheap (my bill for all hair is around £3000 over 18months) but one area can't be more than £300?

Thanks Sarah at the minute £300 sounds cheap! Did it remove all the hair? I have read about hair coming back....was it painful - stupid question to ask given I have been in agony with ingrown hair lumps the size of walnuts.

OP, I think I paid about £360 at the Skin clinic for my bikini line. They had a special offer on; they commonly do.

However, I only got hair on the sides and a bit on top removed, so it is likely to be more costly if you want all your hair removed.

I used to have some ingrown hair and I no longer face that issue. However, my last session (the 6th) was in June and I have noticed a little bit of regrowth in places. I suppose it is not unexpected as they will not guarantee permanent hair removal.

Laser hair removal works best on dark hair and fair skin. The problems you describe with your ingrown hair are pretty extreme so it is probably worth investigating laser hair removal. The Skin clinic will offer you a consultation which costs £20 or so (I think) but which is refundable if you subsequently choose not to go ahead with the laser treatment.

Best wishes!
