Can I wear this dress with ankle boots?

here

I have fallen in love with this dress. Legs are slim and whilst they're not long, they're not short, so I think I should be able to carry off the dress and ankle boots look without looking stumpy.

But, would the ankle boots go ok with this particular dress or am I way off the mark? And if so, what do I wear on my legs?

What look do you wnt?

Back in the 1990s I wore a dress similar to that as a grunge style with black chelsea boots. Black opaque tights.

If you want to look smarter then black pointed toe ankle boots with opaques?

I'm old enough to have been a teenager in the early 1990s, so I suppose I probably don't want to repeat that look too closely, just on the grounds that I'd be afraid of looking as if I haven't moved on and have been dressed that way ever since. That's why I wasn't sure about black opaques, I wore them so much as a student that I wondered if they were a bad idea now?

Was thinking of a boot with a little bit of a heel, but not much? Quite casual? Gah, have I got this totally wrong?

I have a similar-ish dress and wear it with Wolford black opaques and these boots which are surprisingly comfortable:

The Kendra range is generally pretty fab at Clarks and there is a 20% off code knocking around.

I would wear it with black opaques and thick black tights with ankle boots . ( no heel though)
