What shoes to wear with slim leg work trousers?

I have returned to work after maternity and am flapping around in my old black bootcut trousers! I am short and they are wide and saggy so they've got to go.

I'm thinking of trying a slim style but what shoes go with these? I am not a heel lover as I have foot problems.
Would flattish shoes look odd with slim trousers?

did you consider a straight leg instead? Eg the gap ones?

I find the issue with skinny work type trousers would be SOCKS!
with them i would wear heels and ( wince) pop socks or with loafers fish net pop socks

I wear brogues and nice thinnish socks in e.g. grey, navy, wine

Loafers and brogues at the moment with (whispers) nude pop socks Come more chilly weather you can add anke or knee boots .
