Thinking of buying it but after a lot of money wasted on mascara purchases I need your advice.

Thanks

I had some as a present one Christmas. It wasn't something I'd ever used but I must admit I thought it was good.

But I think it's overpriced. I just can't bring myself to spend £20 to replace it. There must be something out there equally good for less.

southeastastra · 22/09/2013 11:03

try the cheaper smaller version first. i don't like it at all, it's really hard to put on, too much faffing about (using the brush vertically) and i don't like the wand. it's awful to get off later too.

you might like it though, i think Boots do a small version for a tenner or so.

Still stick with max factor masterpiece max

catgirl1976 · 22/09/2013 11:10

I didn't like it

It was a bit spidery on and it was like tar to get off

I was in a Travel lodge with no make up remover and I had to spend about 4 hours using the horrible scratchy towel to scrape it off my face whilst looking like a Tim Burton character

You can't go wrong with MF Masterpiece

spanishring · 22/09/2013 11:13

Yup MF masterpiece wins every time

WowOoo · 22/09/2013 11:13

I like the results, but it takes ages to remove it with make up remover. Then after I think it's all off and I wash my face there seems to be loads more.

Yes, catgirl - it's like tar!

I wouldn't buy it again.

Trills · 22/09/2013 11:16

I got a small one free with a magazine.

It's good mascara but hard to get off.

I like Clinique curling mascara (in a silver tube) - semi waterproof, comes off with warm water and gentle rubbing with fingertips.

plentyofsoap · 22/09/2013 11:21

I wasn't impressed.

chicaguapa · 22/09/2013 11:33

I agree. Nice mascara but a bugger to get off.

HazleNutt · 22/09/2013 11:44

They're Real indeed, real horrible. Didn't like it at all, glued my eyelashes together into some weird spider legs.

closetcat · 22/09/2013 11:46

I love it! It's the only mascara that I can put on without getting a dollop of it on my eyelid. It comes off with Simple eye-make-up remover or my Alpha H balancing cleaner.

closetcat · 22/09/2013 11:47

Forgot to mention I don't bother faffing with the vertical bit.

JeanPaget · 22/09/2013 11:52

It comes straight off for me using Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish (or the cheaper Superdrug versions) and I like the fact that it doesn't shift during the day.

EhricLovesTeamQhuay · 22/09/2013 11:52

I liked it but there's a Barry m one that's more or less the same

EhricLovesTeamQhuay · 22/09/2013 11:53

This one

parrotsandcarsnips · 22/09/2013 12:25

i personally didnt like it as found it too clumpy. Benefit rep suggested maybelline one by one which i got and like at fraction of price

NewNameforNewTerm · 22/09/2013 12:31

Not impressed with it. Wasn't easy to put on, didn't like texture/consistency and didn't create effect I expected.

Scarletohello · 22/09/2013 12:44

I've tried lots of diff mascaras but keep coming back to MF Masterpiece ( waterproof). Always looking for the HG but for the price it's v good.

BinksToEnlightenment · 22/09/2013 13:41

I love it, but it's nothing compared to Diorshow Iconic. Now THAT'S a mascara.

JohnnyFontaneCannaeSing · 22/09/2013 13:58

Waste of money. Hated it. I like max factor false lash effect. Hope that helps. X

AmethystMoon · 22/09/2013 14:33

It really isn't worth £20. I was pressure sold a tube when 9 months pregnant, hot n bothered and weak by the pushy Benefit sales child Confused
I do use it but agree with others that is is gunky and nothing not already sold elsewhere for a fiver.
I get it off okay ish with body shop chamomile eye make up remover.

LeslieKnope · 22/09/2013 14:34

It's shite.

Hth.

foxysocks · 22/09/2013 14:54

i love it

NigellasGuest · 22/09/2013 14:57

this is my favourite at the moment although I have used They're Real in the past and got on with it quite well.

I tried Dior Show because of the hype, but found it so bad I actually gave it away!

hashtagwhatever · 22/09/2013 14:59

depends on what your lashes are like, my friend it looks amazing on. me not so much.

on myself its good at lengthening but doesn't give much volume.

foolssilver · 22/09/2013 15:58

Thanks everyone Smile

I think I'll give it a miss then and have a look at Max Factor. Not tried them in ages so time to revisit I think.
