Clarks National Sugar Boots - thoughts?

So I've seen these linked on a number of threads and liked them. Got them today in brown - which is a bit of a departure for me as I usually go for black. What do people think about brown in general? Will it go with plenty of things? Does anybody have these boots? Do you find them comfy? HAve I made an error?

Btw - if you happen to have wide feet and rather plump calves these boots come in a wide fitting and I could zip them up. Hurrah Grin

I think the code is BOOM
...have possibly ordered them too!

northernlurker · 21/09/2013 17:14

Good call Northern - no need to wibble Grin
I bought a very similar pair 9 years ago, more knee length than calf length. Still have them, although my calves are fucking huge slightly bigger than they were, so I may be tempted.
Bloody lovely in brown btw - you can wear some gorgeous autumn colours with these. Lovely lovely lovely.

Now where's my credit card.....

Allthingspretty · 21/09/2013 18:03

I might pop in store to try them on.

mysticminstrel · 21/09/2013 19:38

I have them in brown and love them.

I wear them with dark skinnies and an autumn toned jumper and they look great. Agree that brown is nicer with jeans than black. I've only had mine 2 weeks and have had lots of compliments on them.

I found mine were a bit loose but the buckles were on the middle setting so I shifted them all on to the tightest setting and they fit really well. I walk about 5 miles every day so need something decent and I reckon these will be up to the job.

Longtalljosie · 21/09/2013 19:42

I love those boots. And they'd be much better in brown than black I think...

Notfootball · 21/09/2013 21:10

I bought black because I have shed loads of brown boots and have no problem with wearing black boots with jeans. I'd love the grey ones as well though. They are are super comfortable and I have worn them for hours.

heidihole · 21/09/2013 21:51

stupid question, but where abouts on the website do I add the code? Have added boots to basket, at £89.99 and gone to checkout but can't see the option of adding a discount code.

heidihole · 21/09/2013 21:53

ach. found it. had to enter shipping address before I got the option of adding a code

peachesandpickles · 21/09/2013 22:02

Aaargh! I want to buy these boots but neither the UK or Europe site ship to Ireland! What's that all about then?

I found the grey ones on Sarenza but it doesn't have the option of wide fit.

Now you all will be prancing about in your new boots and I'll spend the winter freezing my toes off in my Birkenstocks. Sad

cocolepew · 21/09/2013 22:03

I wanted brown boots but got distracted by grey ones and bought them instead Hmm. Agree that brown looks better than black

heidihole · 21/09/2013 22:35

peaches buy them here www.bellsshoes.co.uk/ they ship worldwide

peachesandpickles · 21/09/2013 22:55

Thanks heidi - no wide fit in stock though.

There is a shop in my small town that stocks Clarks but don't have any wide fit. I enquired about ordering them but they said if they order them I'd have to buy them which is too much of a chance if they don't fit.

I think I am out of luck.

mejon · 22/09/2013 10:26

peachesandpickles - do you need wide due to wide feet or wide calves? If the latter, I've got massive, fat calves and the 'normal' fit ones I tried were plenty big enough with a bit of room jn too. May be worth a try. Amazon do Clarks too I think.

AnneUulmelmahay · 22/09/2013 11:21

I bought brown boots trying to be adventurous and have never worn them! I have had them 3 years now. Can you wear brown boots with black skinny jeans

I loved my grey boots and wore them lots. Now have black.

northernlurker · 22/09/2013 13:25

Andtwobits Thank you so much for the Parcel Motel tip. I've seen the lockers in my local town but didn't know you could the Northern Ireland thing.

Ah that's great peaches! I'm a dub myself and just discovered them recently.

AndTwoBits · 22/09/2013 19:46

These boots in black are really growing on me!

MsSampson · 22/09/2013 20:27

Oooh, have been looking for grey boots. Can anyone who has the grey ones tell me if they are quite a hairy suede, or more of a nubuck? Very hard to tell from pictures. Not sure if there is a more technical term for hairy suede. Basically - will they be completely ruined by rain or not? Thanks!

Allthingspretty · 24/09/2013 18:01

Bought today.

AnneUulmelmahay · 24/09/2013 18:17

Still awaiting delivery, grrrrr
