A dress? Nice trousers and top? It will be freezing but want to look nice, any ideas?

How about a wrap dress from eg phase 8, (or other long sleeve dress based on body shape) knee high boots and contrasting 80 denier tights.

That's what I'd wear anyway!!

At my church I'm always amazed at how people come to christenings dressed in enormous heels and micro mini skirts. It seems to be the done thing round here. Not that I mind although maybe I am becoming a conservative old fart in even noticing. Hmm. If it's a big old church you'll want a smart coat on which might not get taken off during the service

Maxi dress and long johns with a fur jacket.

Will you be a member of the official party? Because if you are you may find yourself kneeling in front of the whole congregation (in my church you would be first for Communion as you would be seated at the front of the church) so make sure whatever you are wearing is not seethrough (a poor lady last week had a pale dress on and orange knickers and noone knew where to look!!) and also that you can kneel comfortably.

Same as a christening in July but with a big cardi

A warm coat! I asked my mum what to wear to my dnephew's christening - i haven't attended church in over 20 years and she said clean jeans and a top....and she was right, very few were dressed up, it was the fourth child so it was probably more relaxed as a consequence.
