Could someone with their finger on the pulse please tell me, is this still a look for a/w13 or will I just look like I haven't updated my wardrobe since last year?

Thanks very much!

I'm liking your logic Grin

Ooh can you find us a link to the sequin cape, it sounds ace!

Johnny5needsinput · 22/09/2013 10:24

Reading this thread I'm wondering if in my early mid 40's I'm too old for a short skirt and opaques and boots? Size 12/14 ??

kaosak · 22/09/2013 10:26

Have you got good legs Johnny? I think that's key whatever your age.

WetDog · 22/09/2013 11:34

I'm putting my cord shorts on today :) I bought two pairs last year, one tan and one burgundy from M&Co of all places in the sale, they went through the till at something daft like £3 each, including contrasting leather belts.

Yesterday was opaques and a short tweed skirt with thigh high flat boots and a woolen cape. Except I didn't realise how warm it was and ended up sweating my bits off.

I love autumn clothes, just wish the weather would play ball!

Johnny - I'm 43 and a 10-12 and intend to wear short skirts as long as I possibly can! Not slut-length, but up to mid-thigh still fine, I think. Legs are decent.

I tried the Topshop lace ones on and they are nice but I didn't buy them because I had bare legs and couldn't envisage them properly minus tights. Will go back and try on when wearing opaques.

Ujjayi · 22/09/2013 18:33

I'm 42 and whilst my legs are "athletic" I find a combination of opaques and shorts which are loose fitting on the leg are very flattering. Anything tight is strictly for teens and non-mature students Wink.

BTW with regards to age & fashion: I have just finished a 2 yr course where I was 20 years older than most of the students. They were surprised I was in my 40s because of how I dressed - it wasn't what they expected and it challenged their ideas about how they thought someone their mother's age should dress. They all talked about how more women our age should just go for it & not get caught up in the "ooh too old" cycle. Confidence is key & if you saw the Fabulous Fashionistas documentary this week you'll know you can still be working a stylish look right through your 70s 80s & 90s :)

Legs ok. Thighs a bit lumpen but I do have a nicely turned ankle Grin

I wonder if I can squeeze into these:

50ShadesOfMaybe · 24/09/2013 11:53

I don't know, Bill. Why don't you try squeezing in to these?

(I love my shorts, but they might be too much for me!)

BillStickersIsInnocent · 24/09/2013 18:23

They're too short for me - I wonder why they're so reduced Grin
