looking for comfy boots for walking in the winter

ok, i am due my first baby at the end of november and I want to make myself go out walking with the buggy, not over rugged ground, just on footpaths. i am looking for some flat leather boots - calf or 3/4 length boots that i could wear with skinny jeans tucked into or under flared jeans. i am a size 16, 5'9'' with curvy hips so dainty, pointy, heeled boots don't suit me.

i'm easy for brown or black, just have to be flat. any ideas? i'd be happy to pay up to £100ish for the right pair that will last.

Look at Merrell boots. There's a thread somewhere recently. Just bought some and they look like they'll be waterproof, comfy and warm

GobblersKnob · 17/09/2013 09:19

I have three pairs of DM's and 3 pairs of Merrels, all the DM's are fab, but did take some breaking in, two of the Merrells are tbh a bit shit, I went through the soles really, really fast, though I still have them because they are lovely and warm, but wear them around the house or to pop to the shop.

These however are a whole different kettle of fish, they are the most comfortable, warmest, most hardwearing boot I have ever come across, they are totally (as in wade through a stream) waterproof and very non slip on ice. I did 6 miles a day 5 days a week (mostly in these) last winter and apart from creasing to the leather they look brand new, there is practically no wear to the soles at all, they are pricy, but so worth it.

busyboysmum · 17/09/2013 12:47

I've had these Timberlands for about 3 years now I think, they are fab, very comfy and waterproof. Been my school run, walking in the Lakes boots for the last 2 winters and about to bring them out again.

Lottapianos · 17/09/2013 12:54

Gobblers, they are fabulous! I bought some Merrell sandals in the summer and they were super comfy too. Did you buy your normal size in those boots?

GobblersKnob · 17/09/2013 13:22

Yes, perfect fit, all my Merrells have been true to size.

Lottapianos · 17/09/2013 13:26

Lovely, think will add them to my list Smile Thanks

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 17/09/2013 19:24

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 17/09/2013 21:29

I wanted these but they were a tad out of my price range :(

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 18/09/2013 17:57

I know you aren't hill walking, but fashion boots will disintegrate in days. Try your local outdoor store, especially if there is a bargain one, for some walking shoes or ankle boots, will look fine with trousers.

If you have size 8 feet or more (possible at your height) go for the men's ranges - cheaper, no silly pink bits and last better.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 18/09/2013 21:04

thanks for the advice special. you've reminded me i have a pair of 'not too rancid' walking shoes that could do if i wasn't going to bump into someone i know!! i would like a pair that look nice though...shallow...me?!
