First date in 20 years, wha do you think of my outfit choice?

As the title says I last went on a proper date 20 years ago. I am now going on a date with someone I've met online. We are going to a city centre at/ restaurant on Tuesday evening.

I was planning to wear:
Grey skinny leg trousers
A white t-shirt that has white round sequins scattered on it near the neckline
A black velvet biker jacket
A big black bag
Black patent low heels with studs on the heels

How does that sound?

I am 35 and slim

Sounds great have a good time.

SundaySimmons · 15/09/2013 21:34

You will look lovely, but for me it's a tad business like for a date.

A kind of 'No nonsense' outfit.

What about ditching the biker jacket for something a bit more draping?

snoozysleeper · 15/09/2013 21:35

I like the sounds of this too, enjoy yourself!

Ikeameatballs · 15/09/2013 21:45

I do wonder if I will look a bit severe.

I bought a plum 3/4 sleeve top today which I like but it has a high round neck so not sure about it for a first date.

Other alternatives are a blue silky t-shirt style top or an emerald green long silky top.

Sounds nice. Not sure about the big bag. Trousers or jeans?

Ikeameatballs · 15/09/2013 21:53

Sort of jean style trousers. A grey cotton fabric cut to look like jeans rather than grey denim iyswim.

The only suitable alternative to the velvet biker is a red belted coat?

I like the sound of the velvet biker, maybe a different colour bag?

rainbowfeet · 15/09/2013 22:05

Gok would say if you are not showing leg then show cleavage so defiantly not the high neck top!

I prefer a clutch style bag for evenings less awkward as you can pop it on the table or on your lap Grin

Have fun

Ikeameatballs · 15/09/2013 22:10

Could do an animal print or black clutch??

OP posts:
TartanRug · 15/09/2013 22:14

Agree on a clutch for evening. If you're worried about looking too severe maybe a soft light scarf might soften the look up a bit? I think you'll look lovely, have a great time.

TartanRug · 15/09/2013 22:14

I would go animal!

Twinklestein · 15/09/2013 22:37

Def animal print clutch.

MmmmWhiteWine · 15/09/2013 23:27

I think what you're planning sounds lovely. Somehow I like the comfort of a big bag. A small clutch always screams "dressy" to me, which I wouldn't want on a first date.

Ikeameatballs · 15/09/2013 23:33

That's what I was thinking re big bag. Hmmmm. Will have a full dress rehearsal tomorrow night.

Twinklestein · 15/09/2013 23:53

A clutch is not going to scream anything to a bloke. The only thing it will say is 'bag'.

applecrumbleandcream · 16/09/2013 10:54

I think your outfit sounds perfect for a date. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in and have a great night Smile
