Hi I need some advice,

I start a job beginning of next month in a posh office and at 5'4" and 14st I'm too fat for most things, I tend to dress (at the moment) in polarneck jumpers (yes even when its stupid degrees hot) and black trousers.

I need to however look posher for this new job, including suit etc. my mum is taking me shoping this weekend for my birthday and wants me to wear skirts, dresses etc etc. Can this actually be done for someone of my size!

I'm size 20 top, 16 bottom, 38DD (possibly bigger havent been measured for a while.

Any ideas?

BTW, please dont say "lose weight" cos I've tried, it just doesnt shift, the smallest I've ever been is 12.5st.

Well, you know, it isn't easy to look this good!

... She says sat here in jeans and a cardi with belly hanging out scratching my stretch marks and I have bright pick socks with happy birthday written all over them on.... LOL Hmmm, can you tell I am having a lazy day today?!!

NatalieJane · 22/06/2006 15:52

Wow, 4"????? LOL You are braver than me!

Jenswish · 22/06/2006 15:55

hey, my mum wears 5" stiletos! I have to keep up somehow! lol

She tells me how she used to wear them when she worked as a waitress and up until she was 8 months pg with me! I mean come on, you'd think that would give me strong feet no?! lol

I'm hoping to get my hair cut (was thinking of loose perm) before it as well.

Bundle what is footglove?

Ouch!!!

Just be carefull with the perm, tell them exactly what you want before you do it - don't mention the word shaggy or corkscrew, you want nice big defined curls!! Then get yourself off down to Boots because you will need to get some Friz Ease (It's by John Freda) you want the serum, although anything else you can afford from the range is great as well! It is quite expensive, but you only need to use the tiniest little bit so it lasts for months

Jenswish · 22/06/2006 16:01

I dont know whether I will get it done, I'm just bored with flat at the moment and I've tried all sorts of shapes and cuts, was thinking of going for something different.

Does it have to be a suit, I am 5'3 and a 14/16 on top and a 16'18 on the bottom and I just can't wear suits but can wear separates. I do sometimes wear a skirt/ trouser with a complementing jacket.

I have got this combinaton ( black trousers and purple top )on today and I have to say I look mighty fine and it is ok to wear to work - although it does depend on your dress code. Although your body is the other way around to mine!

For a comfier version of heels but to still give you that height have you tried wedges which are easier to be in all day and quite flattering if your ankles are not perfect - peep toe wedges in bottom left corner are a bargain and very comfortable

bundle · 22/06/2006 16:03

range of shoes that have comfier-than-normal soles and wider fitting. some hideous, some Ok

hermykne · 22/06/2006 16:07

jen you have to open up your front with large boobs! by that i mean low neck lines, high ones only make your boobs start higher, so if u get a great fitting bra and some v neck or boat neck tops to start with you'll lengthen your whole front and wont look so top heavy.

go and try on a shirt dress (one colour )with lycra once u get the good underwear - you might be surprsed how well it will look and try wide leg trousers (full or 3/4 lenth )with a nice tunic top (short or 3/4 lenth sleeves,

you should be able to get a few bargains now, dont buy cheap it wont sit right .

i would keep your tops and bottoms the same colour and highlight with a cardi / jkt, bag, hairband, you ll increase your height for one and wont create a line accros your middle.

a tunic top low cut with a diff colour t shirt underneath could brighten up an outfit.

shoes - a little wedge maybe or some flatties for day, and a nice sandal for dressy with a bit of a platform??? no pointy just not comfy
hth

Yes ditch the polo neck and invest in two good bras one white one black.

Jenswish · 22/06/2006 16:16

deep v tops with another top underneath good for big norks

Jenswish · 22/06/2006 16:35

right so I'm going looking for jackets, fitted trousers (and maybe a skirt if I'm feeling brave) V necked tops that show off my boobs!?

I know it's been said, but it is my particular crusade. Get some good bras. Honestly, that's where the money needs to go. It completely changed my shape when I got a bra that fitted properly. And don't go to M&S, they are rubbish for large sizes. Bravissimo should sort you out. And take some different tops in with you to check out how the bras look under them. With big boobs especially, different bras can change your whole shape (uplift, seperation etc). I have some clothes that only fit when I'm wearing a particular bra. And no more polo necks! Wide leg/bootleg trousers, deep V neck tops (not little Vs, you have to take the plunge), and you will look fab!

beckybrastraps · 22/06/2006 16:51

separation

bundle · 22/06/2006 16:51

yes deep v's, wrapovers quite good too

beckybrastraps · 22/06/2006 16:53

Ooh yes, wrapovers, but definitely try on with the bra, and be prepared to invest in a camisole or brooch!

Jenswish · 22/06/2006 16:56

ok, I know i'm going to spend most of my money on Good bras, its mum's money I want to spend!
