Why can't I persuade my sister to put her boy in tights?

She's so stubborn. He's just one and won't keep anything on his feet! Does anyone know of any boyish tights or do you agree real boys don't wear tights? It's her first boy after four girls so I think she's finding her feet with him.

Describing her as "stubborn" indicates that she is resisting in the face of pressure from family members. It is not "stubborn" to want to be able to decide how to dress your children without interference from others.

Oh, and clearly it isn't just your mum, as the thread title mentions you not being able to "persuade" her, indicating that you are trying to do so at present.

Her decision, her child.

She can dress him how she wants.

I did not put tights on DD under trousers. It is not mandatory. If someone tried to persuade me I had to dress the DCs in something, I would make sure I never did.

Sorry for my English language I'm not trying to persuade her at presant. Infant, I'm sat here by the pool in Turkey.

Yes I don't think anyone thought you were literally trying to persuade her right this very minute. But asking why you can't persuade her suggests you've tried to do so.

I should've said How. My mistake. It was my mum that suggested it to her brave woman she was the same when he was born. Didn't want him in leggings. All that lovely Scandanavian neutral stuff she got went straight back. It's the novelty of a boy and wanting all boy things I'm sure. It just never crossed my mind that boys don't wear tights! I'm sure my very macho brother even did!

Meh. I just find it difficult to imagine a scenario where my mum would dream of presuming to tell me how I should dress my kids. And if my brothers started telling me what I should and shouldn't put DC in they'd get very short shrift!

it's insane!
so, her girls were allowed lovely cosy toes, but her poor boy isn't?! Hmm

I don't like tights under trousers either - gives me the creeps! How about sock-ons or those soft leather shoe things if he is not yet walking. Maybe he has warm feet so doesn't like them covered. In the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal.

Slugs and snails do some great boys tights, my two youngest boys wear them all the time (10m and 3 years) through the winter. They are very popular. www.kynaboutique.co.uk/Slugs-and-Snails-s/1910.htm
