I'm so tempted to buy a knock off bag

I know I shouldn't but I've been in the "Mulberry" shop in Turkey nearly everyday of my holiday. I literally can't see the difference. I've googled in the shop and held pictures up side by side. They are made in Turkey anyway. I already have one original so I have something to compare it to. It's not just the bags it's the purses and make up bags. It's wrong, isn't it?

Buy it! hope you did!

ThePuffyShirt · 14/09/2013 21:15

My dad reckons if you buy counterfeit goods you are funding terrorism and organised crime. Is he bonkers?

NicolaSeven · 14/09/2013 21:28

Not to muddy the water, but aren't most high end goods made in appalling conditions with the label sewn on in Italy or France anyway?

It probably is still Wrong though.

Marylou2 · 14/09/2013 21:52

Thepuffyshirt your dad is right! Counterfeiting of goods is often linked to organised crime. Not a pleasant thought.

RedlipsAndSlippers · 14/09/2013 21:55

I have a 'prada' from Corfu. There's no way I could ever afford the real thing, I know a lot of people frown on it, but even without the label it's a nice leather bag, so I probably would've bought it anyway.

CandyPop · 15/09/2013 07:50

Personal preference I say! If you're ok that its a fake then why not. Personally id rather have a non designer bag than carry a fake one. Even if noone knows, I know... Takes the joy out of owning that bag for me .

Rooners · 15/09/2013 08:03

Since buying a counterfeit baby sling from China I can't agree more that it is a very very dodgy thing.

I've had numerous emails claiming that it was genuine and direct from the factory and I need to send them 'at least half' of the amount I reclaimed through the bank's fraud dept, via western union..

I feel sorry for the people they employ to make this stuff, it is a virulent and massive industry, it's rife. We need to stop funding it.

Nyancat · 15/09/2013 08:10

Buy it and buy one for me too!

Lighthousekeeping · 15/09/2013 10:04

Lots of designer bags are made in Turkey where I was. The leather is fantastic quality.

Leather bags are fantastic quality in Turkey. So just buy a non-branded leather bag. Why does it have to have a fake Mulberry badge on it?

AmandaHoldenmigroin · 15/09/2013 12:51

How exactly are counterfeit bags linked with organized crime? It's always said that it is but I never see any explanation as to how. I don't personally use counterfeit products but surely charged someone 1000 pounds for a bag is a crime too? And what's to say that the people who make designer goods are treated well?

salvadory · 15/09/2013 12:56

Buy the bag, the mark up on genuine mulberry hand bags is obscene (I have 3 real ones, (pre kids lunacy) and a fake and they're the exact same quality.

justasecond · 15/09/2013 12:59

Hmm I agree the fakes in Turkey are v good but you will never feel the same about it. I have never bought one because I would feel like an imposter but maybe thats just me.

BishBashBoshBoo · 15/09/2013 13:10

Mulberry charge insane prices these days, with a rate of inflation far outstripping anywhere else. I think they are taking us for fools nowadays.

So I see nothing wrong with doing the same to them. I'd buy it.

Lighthousekeeping · 15/09/2013 13:25

It's not like they are cheap cheap this was £65 www.mulberry.com/shop/womens-bags/clutches/daria-clutch-black-soft-spongy-leather I got it in dark green which wasnt on the website but my friend who has the legit thing tells me they have done the same green previously. She is very Envy and can't tell the difference.

I couldn't buy a fake, if I can't afford the real thing then I would buy a decent non branded bag.

Mummyoftheyear · 15/09/2013 13:54

I have a fake. Gorgeous quality but never use it. I saved up and bought a real one at Bicester Village (outlet place) and feel fake wearing a fake now.
BUT before buying a real one, I absolutely loved my fake. Amazing quality. Why not!!!
