I'm so tempted to buy a knock off bag

I know I shouldn't but I've been in the "Mulberry" shop in Turkey nearly everyday of my holiday. I literally can't see the difference. I've googled in the shop and held pictures up side by side. They are made in Turkey anyway. I already have one original so I have something to compare it to. It's not just the bags it's the purses and make up bags. It's wrong, isn't it?

I don't want to make you feel bad. I think there are degrees of awfulness here.

Bags from china? No, IMO.

Bags from a factory where you can see people working - maybe. But if have to be sure about the working conditions - the tanning is cancerous if proper safe gear is not provided

Better to stick to second hand off EBay

Are we even sure mulberry bags are produced ethically - a proper living wage, protector from the leatherers from cancerous tannins?

It's a bloody minefield

If you want it, buy it.

needasilverlining · 12/09/2013 08:45

Second hand off eBay are usually fake so be very careful if you do go that route.

It is definitely a minefield - I don't know about mulberry's treatment of factory workers, but presumably they stopped producing in England to cut costs.

Is this a genuine site www.ihaz.co.uk/mulberry-womens-bayswater-shoulder-bag-light-coffee-6888-764lcf-d194.html

No is it hell! Look at the description. Anything badly worded and full of mistakes is not going to be genuine.

"Features:
The bayswater is arguably our most iconic bag;an instantly recognisable piece that reflects the craftmanship and techniques that Mulberry is known for. It features our signature Postman's Lock."

Pollywallywinkles · 12/09/2013 10:14

It is not genuine Lighthousekeeping.

I have had real and knock off bags. There are good knock offs and bad knock offs. I would never buy one off of t'internet. They can post any picture they like but without examining it in person you cannot see what it is really like.

One thing I will say though, the knock off bags don't make you feel good. Not like a real one does. Because even if everyone else thinks its real, you KNOW it isn't. You can't fool yourself.

BUT if you have found a really nice quality bag, that you would have anyway- even if it didn't have Mulberry branding, then go for it, because you will be happy that you have a lovely bag, with or without the branding.

It's a massive clutch really soft leather and magnetic fastening that are hidden. I'm in love with it. Dark green, almost black. £45.

I'd get it.

You might want to consider somewhere like baginc, which does the look but no logos, too.

headintheclouds · 13/09/2013 19:14

Id get it, got myself a lovely 'genuine fake' Mulberry Clemmie clutch in Turkey this summer. Its gorgeous And Id defy anyone to tell the difference.

I know its fake BUT I dont feel bad at all ! Id feel bad if Id paid £585 for it instead of £80 :))

Lighthousekeeping · 13/09/2013 19:49

What colour did you get?
