Autumn footwear with skinny jeans

Help! I need some suggestions of what to put on my feet now it's getting chilly out. I REALLY feel the cold and nearly always have chilblains & I do a 4 mile trip each day to pre-school and back. My usual ballerinas are too cold and I'm not yet ready to embrace the full on knee high winter boots so suggestions of interim choices would be great.

If it helps I'm not a fashionista but I'm not a frumpy mum either. I'm 5'8" and size 10.

Ta x

I'm no trend setter, but I walk a lot each day - I can't get past the idea that if you can't walk for 2-3 miles in a pair of shoes, in comfort, they are not really shoes. They are things pretending to be shoes.

I have just bought some Pikolinos boots - fantastic quality, not too hideously expensive, and a thick enough sole to actually walk on in warmth and comfort. Lots on Javari, or mine came from Jones Bootmakers.

mumofthemonsters808 · 12/09/2013 10:53

I like the DM one's, not keen on the Acne Pistol, I thought they were a expensive Mum's boot.

oakmum · 12/09/2013 10:53

just ordered 'laced-up booties' (with zip), Steve Madden 'troopa' in stone, will report back when they arrive.

GrrArgh · 12/09/2013 10:55

I can see those Acne Pistol boots work with boot cut ironed jeans, just an inch too short...then they would be mum boots. Grin

AndTwoBits · 12/09/2013 10:55

I am going between leather brogue boots and ash wedge trainers. Both very comfortable and look good with skinny jeans.

wrigglebum · 12/09/2013 11:04

Think I need to order those DMs before they go out of stock then! Now which colour to get?!

NoComet · 12/09/2013 11:08

I have some long flat Pikolinos boots still going strong at about 8 years old.

They gained leather insoles after legoland did the lining in, but otherwise they are great.

nowahousewife · 12/09/2013 11:16

Agree with poster who said acne pistols only work with v skinny jeans. Does anyone else find them uncomfortable around the top? Mine leave marks where the top of the boot meets my legs. Wore them yesterday for the first theme in ages and still have marks there today. Only persevere with them as they are so bloody expensive!

Babouche · 12/09/2013 16:28

Ash bikers?
I got some from the Brand Boudoir website.
No way could I walk 4 miles in the Pistol boots.

Sleepthief · 12/09/2013 17:16

Is this place turning into clarksnet? Almost every shoe/boot link in the past few weeks has been to clarks... Still giggling at the age-old acne pistol/mumboot argument - it is a very fine line and these boots are very close to walking over it Grin.

I love my Hudson encke ankle boots in coal black leather, by the way OP.

Pannacotta · 12/09/2013 17:57

I like the look of these but no idea how comfy they are and suede is flattering but not the most practical

Grr I suspect I got lucky with my boots that are watertight after 8 years. Have you tried timberland earthkeepers?

GoofyIsACow · 12/09/2013 19:16

GoofyIsACow · 12/09/2013 19:17

my final contribution

chebella · 12/09/2013 19:20

It's got to be a jodhpur/Chelsea boot - leather obviously.

carrie74 · 12/09/2013 21:06

Oh now if we're talking Hudson boots Grin, I'm totally smitten with the Horrigan and the Encke.

CointreauVersial · 12/09/2013 22:58

I have the Clarks ones linked to originally, and trust me, they are fab, but I've no idea why Clarks chose to style them with the top folded down - they look so grannyish like that!

But with the top unfolded they are lovely and look waaaay better. They come to low-mid calf and are amazingly warm and comfy.
