I've got some smart trousers (well, they will be once I've done a bit of sewing!) and I've got a blouse I can wear - will this do?
I've no smart shoes yet though.

Just looked, I've got smart grey trousers, black suede 3/4 length skirt that might be too heavy for summer, a tailored dark blue blouse, a short sleeved white blouse with thin blue stripes, a thin purple tailored blouse with darker purple patterns, errr, that's it!

I'll buy a pair of smart black shoes.

What size shoes ? I have some that are a 3.5 or a 4 that are practically brand new which you are welcome to. My mum gave them to me but I won't wear them.

FlameBoo · 21/06/2006 16:18

thanks! Good luck!!!!!!

Rhubarb · 21/06/2006 16:20

I'm a 6 I'm afraid and I have to wear fairly wide shoes so I always need to try them on first (I have a horrible bunion on one foot!)

nutcracker · 21/06/2006 16:23

Ahh well nevermind. Good luck anyway.

TwinsetandPearls · 21/06/2006 16:28

I would have thought that trousers and a smart blouse wouold do.

meowmix · 21/06/2006 16:33

I'd have a jacket if you can. looks more "I've made a real effort" (as if flying from France doesn't...!)

the trousers sound great - have you got a white t shirt and a black jacket? would be vvv smart. what size are you as could send one of my many black suit jackets up north for you?

Mercy · 21/06/2006 16:44

I would go for the trousers, top & jacket too. Keep it simple - which is why I always wore trousers at work!

Do have a decent handbag? Get your hair trimmed too!

Best of luck!

norah · 21/06/2006 18:11

Smart trousers and jacket sound fine - if in cooler weather I would agree with jacket advice - but it's going to be warm isn't it - so even if you had a jacket you'd probably take it off !

At thye end of the day - it's not about making fashion statememts - it's about being clean and business-like then you can get on with wowing them with your intellect and sparkling wit !

norah · 21/06/2006 18:12

Oh and - have you got a smart necklace you could wear - I always think people look more "finished" if they are wearing a necklace when you interview them ! Also matching earrings if you have ?

Rhubarb, I've got 4 pairs of smart trousers and a pencil skirt that you are welcome to have (free) - I could post them up to JanH, even if you don't use any for the interview they may come in handy for when you start the job!

Email me an address if you want me to post them ([email protected])

AllieBongo · 21/06/2006 18:36

how about a boiler suit and a balaclava. I have some size 6 wide fit clarks smart shoes that MIL wore once and gave to me (i'm a 4) you can have em

Rhubarb · 21/06/2006 20:12

Oooh Allie - am interested in the Clarks shoes! Have you got a piccy?

I have a dark green Sgt Pepper type jacket? Probably doesn't go with grey trousers though does it? How about tartan mini-skirt with Doc Marten boots and a ripped black top?

I'm a size 10 if there are any clothes going? Think I might need a jacket! I prefer grey to black as it can get too hot and makes me look thinner than I already am. The grey trousers and a blouse would be fine, but I need a jacket to match. I might go shopping tomorrow, I guess I'll need them again for other interviews or jobs won't I?

I've got some black leather trousers! How about those?

OP posts:
norah · 21/06/2006 20:50

OOh No - not in this weather or you'll get UCM's problem !

AllieBongo · 21/06/2006 20:59

no, but they are pretty plain. square toe, stitching detail, about 2 inch squarish heel. just officey and do the job.

JanH · 21/06/2006 21:08

bubblerock, DH works in Blackpool, if your trousers etc will fit Rhubarb I could ask him to collect them from you?

bubblerock · 21/06/2006 21:19

Jan - I emailed Rhuby the same thing! lol. I'll get any bits up together that might be useful - definately 2 pairs of the trousers are the right size, but if we're not paying postage then if they don't fit they can be donated elsewhere. My address is on the website - with directions too. Obviously me or DH are usually here so whenever is best for your DH!

Rhubarb · 21/06/2006 21:40

Oooh, I didn't see all of this! I didn't know your dh worked in Blackpool Janh! I thought it was more local!
AllieBongo - whereabouts are you?

OP posts:
Rhubarb · 21/06/2006 21:43

You lot are going to get some seriously bloody good karma after all of this!
