... which one would you want???

I REALLY, REALLY want a Balenciaga bag, for some reason... I still don't know why! It looks simple, but that's just what I like. It would always have been either that or the Birkin for me.

I would think so, but haven't tried to buy one, so not really sure Grin

PeriPathetic · 11/09/2013 23:19

Hermes Jypsiere.

Hermes Jypsiere.

PeriPathetic · 11/09/2013 23:20

Yeah, twice apparently!

Tasmania · 11/09/2013 23:23

reggiebean You know you want to. Go, and report back. Wink

Alright then... Just for the hell of it Grin

Nothing for sale on their website, but have seen conflicting stories online... Some say they're not being sold in boutiques at all anymore, some say you can get one if the store "knows you"...

But, did you know they're only £8,000 new?! As opposed to £30,000 or something that you can find online?! Insane...

santamarianovella · 11/09/2013 23:34

tasmania there is still a waiting list for some special birkins,,but the hermes store in faubourg st honore has a daily delivery of birkins, not sure about the ones in london though, its a timeless bag.but i do see it everywhere too,

santamarianovella · 11/09/2013 23:38

reggiebean my mum bought a small kelly 4 years a go for around 4000 euros, she did find a birkin 30,and it costed around 4500 euros, they are much cheaper to get from store,

reggiebean · 11/09/2013 23:42

Good to know santamarianovella (for when I have an extra £4,500 lying around Wink)

santamarianovella · 11/09/2013 23:42

reggiebean i can assure you that there is a wait list, even in the paris store, but they dont take any orders outside of paris, unless you are royal,my mum's friend ordered a tri color kelly and she waited 6 months for them, the list only open in jan, and the fresh birkin deliveries are made at noon, but you didnt hear it from me!

santamarianovella · 11/09/2013 23:45

sorry for the errors ,im on phone,
and my mum friend is not royal, she just lives in paris Grin

Tasmania · 11/09/2013 23:56

reggiebean I heard that the more basic one (not croc or something) is about £4k from store.

I do have a Birkin 'lookalike' bought years ago (no fake name or anything) that is supposed to be a very similar to the actual thing - and did cost several hundred £'s. Do like it - right style for me, but the actual one is just a little bit too dear...

I'm currently saving for a bag to buy as a birthday present too myself and am struggling on this point. Am torn between:

Givenchy Antigona
Balenciaga Giant City
3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Hour
Saint Laurent Duffle
Saint Laurent Cabas Chyc
Chloe Paraty
Celine Luggage

Umlauf · 12/09/2013 12:15

It has been suggested by DH that for this birthday/Christmas/well-done-for-giving-birth, I might be receiving a bag, so ill have to leave this thread open to help him!

I love love love the Chanel but could never ever justify that much expenditure, it wouldn't leave the house as I'd be so worried about it.

I think it's going to be a Balenciaga city in black. It has a nice link to us as Balenciaga was born in the town we live in (in Spain) and is the only successful Basque fashion designer and was inspired by many Basque traditions.

The birkin and bayswater shapes are a little too grown up for me, but then I worry I could grow out of the city quite quickly and want something more sophisticated! Got to decide by feb!!

FauxFox · 12/09/2013 12:37

I would have this one and sell it straight away to put towards buying a house Grin

Not a bag person sorry.

santamarianovella · 12/09/2013 13:09

umlauf i like the giant city a lot, its a new classic,i dont think it will date ,and i see many women from teens to 40s wear balenciaga bags, the leather is so soft and you dont have to worry about it getting scratched ,

faux why the detour?

Umlauf · 12/09/2013 13:13

Thanks santa I do think its really funky and will satisfy my tougher-dressing days. Not sure about black, I already have a brown and a tan bag and want it to be a colour that lasts, but I'm an autumn so not meant to wear much black (but tis just a bag...)

reggiebean · 12/09/2013 13:22

Umlauf I think my favorite is the Saint Laurent Cabas Chyc, but if you've got a cool tie to Balenciaga that a lot of people wouldn't have, I'd go with that one.

Umlauf · 12/09/2013 14:39

I'm way too emotionally attached to fashion reggiebean I don't tend to spend money because things look nice unless they are really really really nice but I fall for a good story or connection!!
The YSL is lovely though...

santamarianovella · 12/09/2013 15:07

umlauf, I think i would go with a grey or anthracite for the balenciaga,
I wish I bought a balenciaga instead of the YSL muse bag, that turned out to be a big disappointment .
