Any good hairdressers in Birmingham area?

I'm in a turning 40 flat lifeless hair slump!
Can anyone recommend a good hairdresser in central or west Birmingham or mobile that gives good advice about what style suits.
I look at envy at makeover shows/magazine articles where the hairdresser tells them what's the best style as I never find anyone who'll give me a convincing consultation [ and whether to ditch the fringe !] no matter how much I seem to pay...

I can recommend Alfie at Nicky Clarke in the Mailbox. Not been going to him for long, but DH said last cut was 'the best he'd ever seen on me'.

I had a fixed idea of what I wanted, so wasn't quite a consultation, but he did steer me in certain directions based on what would suit me and my badly behaved hair.
