Brown or grey boots as an alternative to black?

I have some lovely black boots but don't like them with some of my clothes.

I have lots of purples and navy this autumn. I've seen brown boots I like but would grey be better?

I would definitely go with grey for purple and navy.I also really like pretty grey boots!

Taupe (i.e. light browny-grey) would work too. I've seen quite a few around.
