Do I want a pair of Converse?

Are they any good? I have bought new knee high and ankle boots for the winter, both have slight heels so thinking I need something flat, and my feet get too cold for ballet pumps in the winter.

Are they are good for when its raining or will my feet get wet? Comfy? I'm imaging wearing them with skinnies rather than dresses or skirts.

Have my eye on a pair of Hi burgundy ones, trying to steer away from black for a change!

I love my Converse. They look good with skinny jeans, both the normal sneakers and the hi-tops.

Remember if you're a size 5 or less you can buy kids ones

The canvas ones are not great in the rain, but yiu can get leather ones.

I have leather ones for winter. I wouldn't say converse are warm though.

Converse won't keep your feet dry and the bottoms wear very badly.

I live in canvas pumps all the time in the spring and autumn. This year I "treated" myself to some Converse. My god they were the most uncomfortable things I've ever owned. The canvas is so hard and stiff, maybe it will soften with wear, but it hasn't yet.

My old ones, which were actually Boden boys ones (and now 3yo and tatty) were so much better.

Yes your feet will get wet, I wouldn't wear them in place of winter boots. Really not much warmer than going out in your socks, the wind whistles right through!

I have some hi-tops with zippers on the side (pregnant so getting in and out of them is super easy) and I love them.

I have a pair in black suede with fleecy lining which I LOVE. They are brilliant and were comfy from day 1. I added sheepskin insoles.

But then this year I bought a pair of normal unlined suede ones and found them v uncomfortable, so much so I wore them twice and couldn't face breaking them in so put them aside to sell still haven't got round to it though

I have Converse which I love but IMO they are not for winter: not good in wet and not warm.

I love mine - staple spring and autumn footwear on all but the wettest days, and unlike others on here I find them super-comfy. There are very few shoes I can wear without getting sore feet or blisters, but these are great. I don't wear them much in the winter though as I prefer my fur lined winter boots then :)

I love my converse and have leather ones to which I add a thermal insole for winter!! Feet are warm and dry. I do spray them regularly with that leather protector stuff though (get it in clarks, along with the insoles).

Burgundy hitops sound lovely! The canvas ones won't keep your feet dry though. I wear mine mostly in spring and summer. I've had several pairs and they've always been comfy from the first wear, never had any problems with them wearing out quickly. People with narrower feet seem to get on better with them I think, as they are quite slim fitting.

Very cold in winter - they have such thin soles it's like walking straight on the concrete. And they're very narrow. And give me blisters on the tops of my toes. Other than that, I love them!

I have leather hi tops for the wet weather. I love Converse but I do need an insole in them because they are so flat.

I don't wear labels. I would begrudge spending £40+ for a pair of what are essentially tennis shoes & the same quality as other less expensive ones that look very similar. I don't want to appear pretentious.

The soles have almost no grip so not good in wet weather. Otherwise, they are a good cold weather substitute for ballet pumps.

I also found them really uncomfortable. I still feel like I'm breaking mine in and I've worn them loads (I do have fat feet). They are easily the least comfy trainer I've ever worn. They're also slippy in the rain.

They look great though!

Yes! I bought my first pair earlier this year and absolutely love them. They are very comfortable and are leather, so fine in light rain. I wouldn't trust them in an absolute downpour and they are not warm, so fine for Autumn but not for really cold days in Winter.

I don't like hi-top ones personally though, as I think they look a bit teenage.

These are the ones I have, or near enough (mine are black). They are really warm and tough, did me the winter and have just started wearing them again this week. Add sheepskin innersoles as I did and your feet are in heaven. The fleecy lining prevents the rubbing-on-toes problem.

I don't get on with converse - I prefer Supergas - I think Supergas are wider fitting.

However the canvas ones won't keep out the wet.

Both brands do leather versions though - I am eyeing up some of the leather Supergas as a casual autumn/winter shoe.

i think they're really comfy, but i live in flat shoes anyway, mine were brought in 2005 and still going strong. Go on get 'em there will be dry days in winter too remember

I can't wear mine as soon as it gets cold....feels like I'm walking om ice-brrrrrr! Though I have seen others wearing so maybe I just suffer with chillier feet than them

Narrow, uncomfortable and very little arch support.

Supergas better.

I have a pair of Converse lookalikes. They cost me £10 and do the job perfectly well. As we ended up having a warm summer I didn't wear them much so they are in very good condition. I will wear them more now, but as they have thin soles, as do Converse, they won't get worn when it is properly cold.
