My old skinnies have given up the ghost so it time to find some new ones - would love some recommedations.
I'm a size 14, pear shape with a bit of a mummy tummy. Not looking to spend more than £40.
Where am I best to look?

M&S jeggings are nice, I'm the same size as you. They have a higher waist which helps tummies!
They are not too skinny either. I have some with an ankle zip and some without. About £25 ish.

ShoeJunkie · 09/09/2013 15:20

Thank you fresh. I have some of those jeggings in black but find them a bit insubstantial, the material is a bit thin and I tend to wear them in place if leggings.
Are the denim ones thicker?

Any other thoughts?

I have tried a few but always come back to Topshop Baxters.

They stretch a bit so I size down.

Try oasis, I think my ones are called straight not skinny as the skinny ones were terrifyingly skimpy!

Grumpywino · 09/09/2013 18:11

I like the Gap jeggings, 39.99, very comfy and in a decent range of colours. The material is thick enough and they have pockets too. I got a couple of pairs at a recent 30% off day.

Grumpywino · 09/09/2013 18:12

Oh and the m & s jeggings in blue are thicker material, also very comfy.

hi I bought a pair of Falmers indigo skinny jeans yesterday from Matalan £20 - lovely looking, nice detail on back pockets, very slimming, great price! They are on their website.

Pantone363 · 09/09/2013 18:39

Good luck with that...indigo skinnies are the holy grail of Jeans.

Start in GAP. Mine have lasted 4 years and only just worn through on the knee...I'm not ashamed to say I cried.

I wear Uniqlo skinny straights. Size waay down though.

Pantone363 · 09/09/2013 18:41

I do like Topshop but price wise they're the same as GAP but don't last as long. GAP wash very well (unlike their tshirts which look like rags after one wash)

EmpireBiscuit · 09/09/2013 18:42

Warehouse skinnies with a high waist - they're £40/£42ish. Brilliant jeans, very comfy and no muffin top!

BeginnerSAHM · 09/09/2013 18:58

I second Uniqlo - fit 'C' I think... Called something like 'skinny tapered'. They are high enough to be able to bend over without flashing your pants but not too high rise to give you the 'long bottom' look... ) £29.90 I think and they take them up for free. (Normally takes about 2 hours, depending on how busy they are.). Definitely size down!!

Love Uniqlo jeans - and have James jeans, Sevenforallmankind plus posh Selfridges brand they advise you about after going in their jean-analyser-machine. Uniqlo are better for me and, ooh, about £150 cheaper Blush.

Fab, thanks everyone.
What are GAP sizes like?

OP posts:
Grumpywino · 10/09/2013 10:40

I find they are quite generous on the waist, but always take as many as you can carry into the changing room as the waist/lengths tend to be inconsistent (or at least in my case I find this). I would never order online because of this.
