He's not really happy to have the tesco cheap ones now! Dont want to spend loads as hes always losing things!

We got DS his from Primark mens department. I realise no help if he's after a 'name' but it's a trendy coat and DS is really happy with it. Saying that though he is a tall yr 7.

Julezboo · 08/09/2013 13:47

DS is dinky! Still wears aged 8-9 clothes. I think I may struggle. The kids all seem to wear superdry here, but dont want to pay £80 for a coat he will lose (Already lost homework diary in 3 days!) He was born 10 weeks early so very small and skinny and not tall at all (think his school trousers are age 9 (with adjustable waist lol)

We've had this issue and managed to compromise with a Next parka. When he was a bit older, I bought him a more expensive coat from Top Shop which he had almost outgrown by the time he lost it!

curlew · 08/09/2013 14:02

Superdry. From an outlet shop, so £29.99.

I said I'd buy him a Superdry if he was prepared to have what was available at the outlet, and I have to admit it's been a fantastic coat- he wore it all through last winter and will this year too. it's warm and waterproof and it still looks like new.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 08/09/2013 14:03

If he wants a branded one, like the other kids, try mandm direct

enderwoman · 08/09/2013 14:06

He wore Next as he didn't care about labels.

Yonihadtoask · 08/09/2013 14:12

I see very few Y7 boys or girls wearing coats for school.

Even in the snow.

Sigh.

Julezboo · 08/09/2013 14:19

Where do I find a superdry outlet shop?? :)

Phaedra11 · 08/09/2013 14:40

Julz, do check that Superdry do coats in your DSs size before making any journeys. We couldn't find one to fit DS when he was Year 7 (also small for his age) but that was a few years ago and things might have changed.

EdithWeston · 08/09/2013 14:46

Actually wearing? None.

Owns? Ski jacket (doesn't go into school) and cheap cagoule which squashes down into tiny corner of school bag and from which it probably won't emerge all year, even when it's teeming.

lalalonglegs · 08/09/2013 15:21

My 7yo son wears a large check (a kind of colourful plaid really) Benetton duffel coat. He looks adorable.

lalalonglegs · 08/09/2013 15:22

Oh sorry, just seen your son is Y7 - well, I sincerely hope that mine is still wearing a duffel because they are great and have a kind of geek chic cachet at that age...

curlew · 08/09/2013 15:26

"Where do I find a superdry outlet shop?? "

Ours is in Ashford. Ds was a sort of average sized 11 year old and the smallest size was a bit big, but fine.

curlew · 08/09/2013 15:32

Lalalonglegs- dream on!

mysteryfairy · 08/09/2013 15:33

If you want Superdry they sell via an outlet on ebay e.g.
£29.99 coat

Julezboo · 08/09/2013 20:37

Thank you. I did a search and none nearby but watching a few superdry on ebay. Think I may just go for a regatta or tresspass for him. I think he will wear it. He's a bit of a wimpy geek lol

Dss wears a super dry he's tiny and all his friends are the same they have ladies xs ones and they fit well
As their black and the writing is in neon their pretty unisex.

East Midlands designers outlet has a super dry junction 28 M1
We paid £30

itsnothingoriginal · 08/09/2013 21:40

I've bought a waterproof parka style coat from Matalan recently for DS - it's fine.

He always trashes his coats and actually hated the expensive Mountain Warehouse one I bought him last year as it had a zip in fleece which was a massive pain!!

Capitola · 08/09/2013 21:42

None! No-one at his school wears a coat. Their lockers are tiny and couldn't accommodate a coat, so none are worn.

My older one has learnt the benefits of layers, and Skins.

Yonihadtoask · 09/09/2013 07:53

DS' concession to temperatures below freezing, is to wear a long sleeved baselayer under his shirt and blazer.
