Pure cashmere (the brand Pure) - is it any good?

Hello there

It's my birthday in a couple of weeks and I've had a Pure cashmere catalogue through the post. I'd like a couple of bits but it's not cheap and I just want to see if anyone had any and what the quality is like? Would you buy it again?

I am not sure that stretching to Brora is an option so if not this, where else can I get decent cashmere?

Thanks so much.

I have a jumper from Pure and I think it is very good quality. I wash it in the machine on a wool wash. It has bobbled a bit but then I think all cashmere does to some extent. I would buy from them again. I used to shop at Brora in the sales but it has become too expensive now.

bunnymother · 08/09/2013 15:45

I think the cashmere is excellent. Soft, thick, well shaped. A bit of bobbling on mine, but easily removed.

Thank you so much. I will try it out.

Brora is fab but beyond my price now, even on the sales unfortunately.

Thank you.

I have recently ordered this jumper with my 20% off code. It is so cosy!

ILoveAFullFridge · 08/09/2013 21:01

It's better than any other cashmere I've seen or tried (tho not seen Brora). Softer and more robust.

iMe · 08/09/2013 21:24

I love that sweater, dexter. what is this about 20% off? Are you allowed to share the code?

kittysaysmiaow · 08/09/2013 21:29

Have you looked at John Lewis own brand cashmere? It's lovely. Good colours, styles, feels like excellent quality and reasonably priced.

practicality · 08/09/2013 21:41

I agree re John Lewis cashmere- ESP their weekend ones. Really wears well and a good thickness too.

Twinklestein · 08/09/2013 21:43

Pure Collection is fantastic quality. I've just ordered a heinous about of stuff from them. There's a 25% offer on at the mo - look out for it in the Telegraph & House & Garden if you don't have it.

I much prefer their stuff to Brora - which can look very Boden.

AntPants1 · 08/09/2013 21:46

I love pure. Have bought several things over the years. All great quality

dexter73 · 08/09/2013 21:53

My code was DHC116. It was on my catalogue so I'm not sure if it is just for me or not, but worth a try!

dexter73 · 08/09/2013 21:55

Just checked - it is 25% off.

Another fan here. I have had some cashmere pieces, and one of their leather skirts, and quality has been excellent. One jumper has been going strong for several years, worn and washed many times and till holds its shape well and keeps me warm.

Decameron · 08/09/2013 22:11

Their silk shirts are excellent too.

iMe · 09/09/2013 13:24

thank you for sharing, dexter Smile

MaggieW · 09/09/2013 13:46

Been reading this with interest. What's their sizing like please for something like a v neck jumper?

dexter73 · 09/09/2013 15:59

I would say it is true to size.

dexter73 · 09/09/2013 15:59

No probs iMe - hope it works!

HandMini · 09/09/2013 16:01

Wow, it's still pricey, but I guess that's the deal for real cashmere. I dread to think what Brora costs. Won't be looking at their site.

sarahtigh · 09/09/2013 17:56

Pure is great I bought scoop neck blue jumper about 6 years ago probably wear it once a week on average in winter still looks good tiny bit of bobbling washes in machine on wool wash but must dry flat retains shape it is a 16/large when mostly i need 18 because of big boobs nice fit and shape I would recommend have tried cheaper "next" cashmere it really bobbled quite badly

real cashmere costs money

sarahtigh · 09/09/2013 17:58

it was this one with long sleeves

They're very good, in my experience. I have a big event on tomorrow and will be pulling out my grey ruffle cashmere Pure cardigan that has served me so well since I bought it about 4 years ago.

I like Brora too but I find some of their sweaters and cardigans to be a bit on the short side (and I'm not even that tall). Some of Brora's looks are quite frumpy - Pure is better at doing modern styles.

sybilfaulty · 10/09/2013 09:46

Thanks everyone. I'll get shopping tonight.
