Soft , button front denim dress. What to wear with it

Too warm for summer. It's buttoned up the front, not a stiff denim, softer like chambray.
Dark indigo.. With a belt tie.

In summer I'd wear flats or sandles.
But what for autumn.
I've got flat black knee length boots. These plus thick tights?
Would that work?

Early autumn I'd wear it with bare legs and ankle boots, maybe in tan or brown if you have. As it gets colder you could wear your boots with wooly tights, black would be the safe option but I'd be tempted to go for charcoal grey or plum/wine coloured cable knit ones. Am a little bit excited about cold weather this year

I'm not fond of denim with black boots tbh, and especially not knee high ones. I do think that sort of dress looks nice with brown boots though, and navy or grey tights.

Do you mind me asking where the dress is from? Am searching for one like this!
