Sorry! If you like something don't be swayed by others.

But as a rule, if it would look dated frumpy and unflattering in cotton/cord/wool/whatever, then making it in leather doesn't magically change it into stylish and flattering. IMVHO anyway.

Mind you, I'm head to toe in Boden today I've just noticed, so clearly not someone anyone needs to be listening to about what's trendy and stylish...

oh my goodness. please do not spend £300 on that, it's quite horrific.

The m&s skirt is awful, adds two stone to the model and looks frumpy.

Leather skirts should be fitted, ie pencil skirt style.

Mind you, I saw these coated jeggings in black in there today, and liked them. But I already have the DP pair from last winter.

Fetchez - oops, thanks for pointing that out, I wouldn't want anybody to think I'm in the market for a leather dirndl! I think I tried to link from quickview rather than the full page - I actually meant this much nicer and cheaper pencil skirt.

Ooh yes, much nicer and half the price! Makes the model look like she's got a bit of a tummy on her, though. I conclude that either their clothes aren't very flattering or they don't have a very good photographer.

The model in the picture of the nicer M&S skirt has got a smug look on her face as if to say to her colleague "Ha, I got to wear the flattering skirt, you look like Maria Von Trapp!"

The styling of that makes me think of that dr Gunther guy who likes to cut up dead people

The Maria Von Trapp skirt is in the Guardian today as one of their top twenty skirts!!!

Clearly I am completely out of date with what's "in", but seriously?!

I said that the fashionistas would love it!

The Zara one has the seam half way down which makes it look like two skins cobbled together.
The M&S one is pannelled but the seam at the hem looks raw.

Neither of them are attractive at all.

Why have they put the model in a witches hat?

Ahh my mum reckons she can source some leather or faux leather for me and make a more flattering version!!
